| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Charles Leslie Amacher of Savoy, who |
| 4 | | passed away on May 20, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was born in Strawn on May 27, 1926 |
| 6 | | to Vern and Selmer Whitlow Amacher; he was educated in Argenta |
| 7 | | schools before earning his bachelor's degree in architectural |
| 8 | | engineering at the University of Illinois; he served in the |
| 9 | | United States Navy during World War II; he married Joan Carol |
| 10 | | Marsh on December 22, 1950 and they settled in Champaign; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was a registered professional |
| 12 | | engineer and a registered plumber; he was President of the R.H. |
| 13 | | Bishop company until he retired in 1989; during his career as |
| 14 | | President, he was named "Boss of the Year" by the Junior |
| 15 | | Chamber of Commerce after being nominated for the honor by his |
| 16 | | employees; following a short-lived retirement, he developed S & |
| 17 | | A Building Specialties, Inc. in Champaign into a thriving |
| 18 | | business and continued to go to the office every day until he |
| 19 | | again retired in 2012; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was a member of the Construction |
| 21 | | Specifications Institute, the American Society of Plumbing |
| 22 | | Engineers, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, the |
|

| 1 | | American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and |
| 2 | | Air-Conditioning Engineers, the University of Illinois Alumni |
| 3 | | Association, and the University Place Christian Church; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Charles Amacher served his church as an honorary |
| 5 | | deacon as well as on numerous committees; he also served the |
| 6 | | Boy Scouts organization as district commissioner; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Charles Amacher was preceded in death by his |
| 8 | | parents, and his sister, Phyllis; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Charles Amacher is survived by his wife, Joan; his |
| 10 | | children, Vern David Amacher (Kimberley), Bill Marsh Amacher |
| 11 | | (Hazel), and Carol Jo Beck (William A. II); his 8 |
| 12 | | grandchildren, Leslie Stebel, Maggie Halvorson, Michael |
| 13 | | Amacher, Charlee Amacher, Nicole Arnold, Rachel Hoskins, April |
| 14 | | Beck, and Lake Beck; and his 11 great-grandchildren; therefore, |
| 15 | | be it

| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 18 | | Charles Leslie Amacher, and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 19 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 20 | | further
