2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Barbara Swaim "Bobbie" Reece of Crystal |
4 | | Lake, who passed away on April 13, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Reece was born in Evanston on August 22, |
6 | | 1930 to Helen and Earl F. Swaim; she was raised in Evanston; |
7 | | Buffalo, New York; and Washington, D.C.; she attended Miami |
8 | | University in Ohio and married Peter V. Reece on July 10, 1954; |
9 | | and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Reece taught grade school at Ravinia |
11 | | School in Highland Park and then at St. Thomas School after |
12 | | moving to Crystal Lake in 1959; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Early on in Crystal Lake, Barbara Reece was |
14 | | integral to the continued success of the local children's |
15 | | theatre group, Storybook Playhouse Theater; she was a Cub Scout |
16 | | Den Mother and was involved with the American Association of |
17 | | University Women; for many years, she led the Confraternity of |
18 | | Christian Doctrine program at St. Thomas Church and taught |
19 | | First Communion classes; she was an avid reader, enjoyed craft |
20 | | making, and always kept the police scanner operable; she |
21 | | remained active after her children grew up through work in |
22 | | printing and program management for the elderly; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Reece was preceded in death by her |
2 | | husband, Peter; her sister, Carol Bowen; and her parents; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Reece is survived by her children, James |
4 | | (Toni) Reece, Richard (Jackie) Reece, Gary (Terri) Reece, |
5 | | William (Deeta) Reece, and Keleigh Reece; her grandchildren, |
6 | | Jesse Cronan, Madison Reece, Chris (Natalie) Reece, Jonathan |
7 | | Reece, Teagan Reece, Corie Small Makila, Corbie (Gorn) |
8 | | Dimopoulos, Kadie Mayer, Nicole (Paul) Young, Sophia Reece, |
9 | | Ayla Reece, Jabari Dukes, Jaleel Dukes, and Ayana Dukes; and |
10 | | her great-grandchildren, Jayden Dimopoulos, George Dimopoulos, |
11 | | Jake Dimopoulos, CJ Mayer, Jackson Young, Tessa Makila, Travis |
12 | | Makila, and Eve Reece; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Barbara Swaim "Bobbie" Reece, and extend our sincere |
16 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
17 | | her; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Barbara Reece as an expression of |
20 | | our deepest sympathy.
