1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Technology companies impact millions of people by | ||||||
3 | providing phone, cable, and
advanced technology services; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Suppliers of technology provide services such as, | ||||||
5 | but not limited to, content and
programming, app development, | ||||||
6 | big data, and cell/DAS tower; therefore, be it
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the Department | ||||||
9 | of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Department of | ||||||
10 | Central Management Services to create a diversity program that | ||||||
11 | connects certified diverse suppliers such as, but not limited | ||||||
12 | to, (MBE/WBE/SDVOSB) with technology companies to see if their | ||||||
13 | capabilities fit current and future technological business | ||||||
14 | needs; and be it further
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, That responsibility for planning, inviting, | ||||||
16 | hosting, and conducting the program will belong
with DCEO and | ||||||
17 | CMS; and be it further | ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That the Department of Commerce and Economic | ||||||
19 | Opportunity and the Department of Central Management Services | ||||||
20 | are encouraged to work with community-based organizations such | ||||||
21 | as, but not limited to, the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce, |

1 | the Federation of Women Contractors, the Hispanic American | ||||||
2 | Construction Industry Association, and the Illinois Hispanic
| ||||||
3 | Chamber of Commerce, to publicize
the program; and be it | ||||||
4 | further | ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, That primary providers of technology should be | ||||||
6 | invited to participate due to their efforts that
support | ||||||
7 | supplier diversity and diverse employment opportunities; and | ||||||
8 | be it further | ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, That any program events need to be centrally | ||||||
10 | located to encourage participation throughout the State; and be | ||||||
11 | it further | ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, That primary providers of technology do not need | ||||||
13 | to be Illinois-based, but must have a need for
Illinois-based | ||||||
14 | subcontractors or secondary providers of technology; and be it | ||||||
15 | further | ||||||
16 | RESOLVED, That all prospective diverse suppliers must be | ||||||
17 | certified (or in the process of certification)
prior to | ||||||
18 | attending any events created by the program; and be it further | ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | delivered to the Directors of the Department of Commerce and | ||||||
21 | Economic Opportunity and the Department of Central Management |
