2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Theodore "Ted" Pitzen of McHenry, who |
4 | | passed away on March 24, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was born on December 19, 1921 to |
6 | | Nicholas and Christina (nee Weber) Pitzen; he attended St |
7 | | John's Elementary School in Johnsburg; he married Lorraine |
8 | | Stilling on July 22, 1942; he served in the military during |
9 | | World War II with the 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific |
10 | | Theater, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, After the war, Ted Pitzen started Pitzen |
12 | | Plastering and operated it through the 1970s, before selling |
13 | | the business and entering the real estate business; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was active in the community as an |
15 | | alderman for the City of McHenry; he helped establish the |
16 | | McHenry Little League as a sponsor and coach; he served as Tax |
17 | | Assessor for the Township until 1995; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was active in sports, playing with the |
19 | | 1952 Johnsburg Tigers State baseball team champions; he loved |
20 | | golfing, fishing, and playing bridge; he was active in St. Mary |
21 | | Church and was a former board member for the Montini School; |

2 | | WHEREAS, After the passing of his wife, Ted Pitzen married |
3 | | Dorothy (Schmitt) Bassi on December 30, 1994; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was preceded in death by his parents; |
5 | | his brothers, Laurence and Paul; his sister, Bernice; his |
6 | | daughters, Rebecca and Christianne Marie; and his grandson, |
7 | | Nicholas; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his |
9 | | children, Kathleen (Calvin) Schoon, Michael (Beverly) Pitzen, |
10 | | Patricia (Glenn) May, John (Doris) Pitzen, Theodore (Mary) |
11 | | Pitzen II, Annette (Michael) Coughlin, John Bassi, Vickie (Tom) |
12 | | Reinhardt, Chris Bassi, Mary Bassi, Amy (Dennis) Whiteside, and |
13 | | Susan (Michael) Mulligan; his 27 grandchildren; and his 11 |
14 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
17 | | Theodore "Ted" Pitzen, and extend our sincere condolences to |
18 | | his family and friends and all who knew and loved him; and be |
19 | | it further
