SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helen Diane Richart, who passed away on
4February 10, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen Richart was born in Chicago in 1924 to
6Gioacchino and Elisa (nee Spapperi) Fusciani; she attended
7Rezin Orr Elementary School and graduated from Austin High
8School in Chicago; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After high school, Helen Richart worked in
10bookkeeping in downtown Chicago and was active in the Young
11People's Club of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church; in 1954,
12she married Milton Hawkins and they settled in Prospect
13Heights; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Helen Richart was active in church and school
15organizations, including St. John's Episcopal Church and John
16Hersey High School; she also worked part-time; after being
17widowed in 1969, she returned to working full-time in
18bookkeeping; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Helen Richart married Joseph Richart in 1977 and
20moved to Harvard; they were active in many organizations,
21including the Moose Club, the Northwest Sailing Association,

1the Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club, and the Upper Keys Sailing
2Club in Key Largo; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Helen Richart enjoyed square dancing with the
4Woodstock Squares and entertaining and hosting family
5gatherings; she and her husband were avid sailors, often
6cruising on Lake Michigan and Florida Bay; they also made trips
7on the Mississippi and in the Caribbean; for more than 20
8years, they were winter residents in Key Largo, Florida, and
9more recently, New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Helen Richart was preceded in death by her sister,
11Rita Aiello; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Helen Richart is survived by her husband, Joseph;
13her daughter, Diane Hawkins; and her son, David Hawkins;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Helen Diane Richart, and extend our sincere condolences to her
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Helen Richart as an expression of
