SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph A. "Joe" Falotico, who passed away on March 18, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Falotico was born on March 3, 1934 to Sam and Lena Falotico; he married Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Borzick on September 4, 1954 and they settled in Gurnee in 1964; he attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Falotico worked as a salesman for Drake Electric and then Interstate Electric, retiring in 1999; he went on to start and own 3 car washes in Lake Villa, Salem, and Fox Lake; and

WHEREAS, Early in his life, Joseph Falotico was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan, where he was highly involved in the Holy Name Society and Church Choir; he was also a reader, Eucharistic minister, and CCD teacher; he spent many volunteer hours at the VA hospital on Sundays, bringing patients to Mass and doing the church readings at St. Therese Chapel as well; he was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #731 and #11112, and Past Faithful Navigator 4th degree Bishop Quarter Assembly; he also cooked dinner for the K of C Bingo volunteers; he was in charge of "Italian Night" at the K of C club in Waukegan; he was among the original members for St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee, where he helped open the church for daily mass for over 15 years; he was also a Eucharistic Minister and Minister of Care; he was "Santa" for many pre-schools, church functions, Model "A" Christmas parties, and for close family and friends, and most of all to his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Falotico was a very active person, keeping up with his large garden to which he always shared the bounty of fruit and veggies from the trunk of his car at church; he opened his trunk when he arrived at church and by the time Mass was over his trunk was empty; he enjoyed keeping up with his yard work and driving his Model "A" cars to shows and on short trips; he hosted many picnics at his home throughout the years; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Falotico was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Derek Manuel; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Falotico is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children, Danny (Renee) Falotico, Jacqueline (Larry) Williams, Mary Kay Falotico, Joseph S. (Laura) Falotico, Peter (Christina) Falotico, Diane (Mike) Kennedy, Brenda (Dale) Stark, Therese (Gayle) Manuel, John (Holly) Falotico, and Sharon (Ron) Jensen; his grandchildren, Brian (Fay) Falotico, Scott (Monica) Falotico, Steve (Tamara) Falotico, Robert and Samantha Williams, Stuart and Lucy Lawrence, Dillon and Hunter Falotico, Hayley and Savannah Kennedy, Kayla, Zachary, and Sara Stark, Amy Kubes, Gregory Guntharp, Hannah Rummel, Nicole Manuel, Wilder, Carly and Tritium Falotico, and Veronica and Maggie Jensen; his great-grandchildren, Miah, Sophia, Dominic, Jaxton, Isaac, Isabella Falotico, Sinclair and Hunter Guntharp, and Zakary Kubes; his sisters, Lenora (Robert) Lunkenhiemer, Antoinette (Ron) Packman, and Mary (Bob) Hlidek; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph A. "Joe" Falotico, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph Falotico as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
