|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Elaine June Dahl of Crystal Lake, who |
4 | | passed away on February 23, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Dahl was born in Chicago; her parents were |
6 | | Elmer and Bernice (nee Raycroft) Dahl; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, In 1929, Elaine Dahl and her family moved to |
8 | | Crystal Lake, where she attended public schools from third |
9 | | grade through high school and graduated as valedictorian in |
10 | | 1939; after earning her diploma from the Sherman Hospital |
11 | | School of Nursing in 1943, she took the Illinois State Exam to |
12 | | become a Registered Nurse; she subsequently enlisted in the |
13 | | United States Army and served as a nurse in the Pacific Theater |
14 | | during World War II; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, After her discharge, Elaine Dahl worked as a |
16 | | private duty nurse, often caring for polio patients; she later |
17 | | pursued an interest in physical therapy at the Mayo Clinic in |
18 | | Rochester, Minnesota and earned her certificate and passed the |
19 | | National and Illinois Exams to become a Registered Physical |
20 | | Therapist; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, In 1969, Elaine Dahl graduated from Northern |

1 | | Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring |
2 | | in Physical Therapy; while at Northern Illinois University, she |
3 | | worked in the Physical Therapy Department; in 1975, she moved |
4 | | to Oregon to work as a physical therapist at Salem Memorial |
5 | | Hospital, where she worked until the age of 72; after 30 years |
6 | | of living in the Pacific Northwest, she returned to Crystal |
7 | | Lake to be with her family; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Dahl enjoyed nature, spending much of her |
9 | | younger days camping, canoeing, hiking, and describing the |
10 | | history of every rock formation along the way; she also enjoyed |
11 | | traveling the world, where she collected various treasures; as |
12 | | a member of the Aurora Colony Handspinners Guild, she would |
13 | | often demonstrate the craft of spinning in many places, |
14 | | including the Oregon State Fair and the McHenry County |
15 | | Historical Society; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Dahl was preceded in death by a brother, |
17 | | Jack Dahl; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Dahl is survived by a sister-in-law, |
19 | | Marilyn Dahl; 4 nephews, Scot (Virginia) Dahl, Jay (Peggy) |
20 | | Dahl, Jim (Marty) Dahl, and Wayne (Michelle) Dahl; and 13 |
21 | | grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and |
22 | | great-grandnephews; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
3 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Elaine June Dahl; and |
4 | | be it further
|
5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
6 | | presented to the family of Elaine Dahl as an expression of our |
7 | | sympathy.
