2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Howard Jones, Jr. of Lake Forest, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 9, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. was born in Oak Park on February | ||||||
6 | 19, 1929 to Howard, Sr. and Margaret (Fisher); he attended | ||||||
7 | Ascension Grade School and Fenwick High School in Oak Park and | ||||||
8 | Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, In the 1950s, Howard Jones, Jr. worked in various | ||||||
10 | jobs in Miami Beach and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, a locale that | ||||||
11 | would forever be his home away from home; he married Nancy | ||||||
12 | Keenan on September 13, 1958 in Oak Park; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. began his business career with | ||||||
14 | the Insurance Company of North America (INA), and later as the | ||||||
15 | owner/operator of his own independent agency in Deerfield, Lake | ||||||
16 | Forest, and Forest Park; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. was an avid athlete and enjoyed | ||||||
18 | tennis, basketball, baseball, football, and hockey; he coached | ||||||
19 | numerous little league baseball and basketball teams in | ||||||
20 | Deerfield; and

1 | WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
2 | parents, and his sister, Virginia; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. is survived by his 5 sons, | ||||||
4 | Reverend Michael Keenan, Matthew (Carol), Mark, Patrick | ||||||
5 | (Lori), and Peter (Jennifer); his daughter, Nan Weitzman | ||||||
6 | (Scott); his grandchildren, Samuel, Carly, Dani, Jake, | ||||||
7 | Matthew, Charles, Anna, Howard William, III, Luke, Emma, Molly, | ||||||
8 | Murphy, Mac, and Max Weitzman; and countless friends in the | ||||||
9 | Chicago area as well as his many friends and neighbors in the | ||||||
10 | Ocean Colony community of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida; | ||||||
11 | therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing | ||||||
14 | Howard Jones, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
15 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
16 | further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Howard Jones, Jr. as an expression | ||||||
19 | of our deepest sympathy.
