SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Earl A. Cummings of Clarendon Hills, who passed away on February 2, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Earl Cummings was born in Chicago on May 5, 1938 to Earl and Suzanne (nee Hague) Cummings; he graduated from Chicago public grade schools and high schools; he then attended Valparaiso University on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1960; from 1962 to 1969, he served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in the Signal Corps; and

WHEREAS, Earl Cummings worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company from 1960 to 1968, Continental Bank in Chicago from 1968 to 1973, Quasar Electronics from 1973 to 1977, the World Bank in Washington, D.C. from 1977 to 1988, Comsat International Communications, Inc. from 1988 to 1994, Northern Telecom from 1994 to 1996, Aeroteck E F & I Services from 1996 to 1999, and ADC Telecommunications from 1999 to 2003; and

WHEREAS, Earl Cummings was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Janice (Albert); his brother, Kenneth C. Cummings; and his sister, Carol (Jacobsen); and

WHEREAS, Earl Cummings is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 45 years, Janice M. Cummings (nee Kostiuk); his children, Laura S. Blackwell (Peter) and Kyle J. Cummings; his granddaughters, Abigail and Katelyn; his grandsons, Jacob and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Earl A. Cummings, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Earl Cummings as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
