SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Peter J. Traczyk of Oak Park, who passed
4away on February 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The members of this body are deeply saddened by
6Peter's passing, as he personified the spirit of public service
7and engagement that animates the Village of Oak Park, where he
8was known as a valued leader, a friend to many, and a loving
9husband and father; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Peter was born on June 29, 1966 in Windsor,
11Connecticut to Richard and Germaine Traczyk; he graduated from
12high school and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University
13of Wisconsin; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Peter married Cindy Friess in November of 1994;
15they moved to Oak Park in 1997, where their 3 children attend
16school; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Peter was an avid shutterbug, capturing every day
18and many special moments of life; he loved outdoor activities,
19including boating, fishing, and riding ATV's; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Peter enjoyed working with his hands, doing

1carpentry, and playing with the latest gadgets; these skills
2and his bottomless generosity made him the go to fix-it guy for
3his friends and neighbors; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Peter cleared the winter snow and ice from his
5neighbors' sidewalks, driveways, and alleys; he loved spending
6time with his children, exploring new adventures and the world
7with them and sharing his love of books, movies, and music; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Peter had a great sense of humor and he laughed
9often; his laugh was known as loud and long and was well known
10to all who knew him; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Peter was a remarkable citizen and leader in Oak
12Park; he first served on the Parent-Teacher Organization of
13Beye School and served as co-president of the organization; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Peter was elected to the District 97 School Board
15in 2007, serving one term as President; and
 
16    WHEREAS, In learning of his passing, the District 97 School
17Board commended Peter as a dedicated public servant whose
18passion, altruism, and leadership had a profound and lasting
19impact on the schools and the entire Village of Oak Park; they
20also noted that he inspired many with his strong work ethic,
21integrity, and tireless commitment that he displayed on a daily

1basis; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Peter was a fixture at school and community events
3and on the ball fields of Oak Park, where he coached his
4children in softball, tee-ball, and soccer; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter is survived by his wife, Cindy; 2 sons,
6Gilbert and Zachary; a daughter, Helen (Ellie); 5 siblings,
7David (Linda), Janice (Phil), Christine, Julie, and Amy (Jeb);
8his in-laws, Judy and Herman Friess, Gregory and Michelle
9Friess, Lisa and Jeffrey Alder, and Jane Friess; and his many
10nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Peter J. Traczyk; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Peter Traczyk as an expression of
17our sympathy.
