2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of George A. Leoni of Melrose Park; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, George Leoni was a veteran of the United States |
5 | | Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, George Leoni was the Executive Director of the |
7 | | Veterans Park District for 40 years; he was also Proviso |
8 | | Township's Mental Health Commissioner, a board member of the |
9 | | Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans, Chairman of the |
10 | | Italo-American National Union, and on the Board of Directors |
11 | | for the Villa Scalabrini Retirement Center; he also worked with |
12 | | PARC (Proviso Association for Retarded Children), now known as |
13 | | ASPIRE; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, George Leoni was a member of the Illinois Park and |
15 | | Recreation Association, the Disabled American Veterans, the |
16 | | Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 33rd World War II Infantry |
17 | | Veteran Division, and the Illinois Fire and Police |
18 | | Commissioners Association, and was an honorary member of the |
19 | | Mickinzie-Vertuno Memorial Fraternal Order of Police Lodge |
20 | | #19; and

21 | | WHEREAS, George Leoni was a sponsor of the Melrose Park |

1 | | Little League and the Flames Hockey Team; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, George Leoni was the dearly beloved husband of the |
3 | | late Lena (nee Petruzzi); the loving father of Georgia Buvak |
4 | | and Donna Peluso; the cherished Papa of Carlene (Ken) Greifelt, |
5 | | Michalene (James) Tjeerdema, Roberta (Christopher) Heintz, and |
6 | | George (Lauren) and Anthony Peluso; the loving Great Papa of |
7 | | Jona, Jimmy, Jake, Logan, Bowie, Blaise, and Nico; the dear |
8 | | brother of Ora (the late Tex) Simon, Madeline (the late Joe) |
9 | | Belline, the late Richard and Gemma Leoni, the late Vadie |
10 | | Autry, the late William Leoni, the late Velencia, the late |
11 | | Alberta and Donald Provenzano, and the late Anita Leoni; the |
12 | | loving companion of Madeline Pyka; and the fond uncle and |
13 | | friend of many; therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | George A. Leoni, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
18 | | further

20 | | presented to the family of George Leoni as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy.
