2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Emily Beggs Esarey of White Hall, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 14, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Emily Esarey was born in Oak Park on July 24, 1933 | ||||||
6 | to Charles Norman and Elizabeth Loe Corsa Beggs; she graduated | ||||||
7 | from Oak Park High School in 1951 and the University of | ||||||
8 | Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1955 with a bachelor's degree | ||||||
9 | in animal science; she earned the distinction as the first | ||||||
10 | female graduate of the College of Agriculture; she was a proud | ||||||
11 | member of the Sigma Kappa sorority and a supporter of Chief | ||||||
12 | Illiniwek; she married James Gibson Esarey on June 26, 1955 in | ||||||
13 | Oak Park; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, In 1959, Emily Esarey and her husband settled in | ||||||
15 | Greene County, south of White Hall, and began managing Gregory | ||||||
16 | Farm, a farm that had been in her family since 1821; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Emily Esarey was involved with many community | ||||||
18 | organizations, including positions as a 4-H club leader, church | ||||||
19 | choir member, softball coach, honorary Future Farmers of | ||||||
20 | America member, art teacher, and avid horse enthusiast for | ||||||
21 | Percheron horses, Quarter horses (AQHA), and Morgans; she was | ||||||
22 | also a horse handler at Beverly Farms; she was affectionately |

1 | know as "Mrs. E"; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Emily Esarey was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
3 | James; her parents; and her brother, Bill Beggs; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Emily Esarey is survived by 2 daughters, Le | ||||||
5 | (Butch) Esarey Perry and Laura Jane (Drew) Dukett; her 2 sons, | ||||||
6 | Jonathon Esarey and Justus (Toni) Esarey; her sister, Sarah | ||||||
7 | Coad; her brother, Gregory Beggs; her 5 grandchildren, Bethany | ||||||
8 | Dukett, Joshua Dukett, Christopher Dukett (Sonya), Greg Finn, | ||||||
9 | and Zach Finn; her 3 great-grandchildren, Ashley Wells, | ||||||
10 | Christian Wells, and Haley Westermayer; and her | ||||||
11 | great-great-grandchild, Isabella Marie Wells; she also hosted | ||||||
12 | 4 exchange students including Hereath (Sri Lanka), Shinji Kondo | ||||||
13 | (Japan), Evangeline Karahalios Guerland (Xavier-France), and | ||||||
14 | Nina Suvanto-Collan (Finland); therefore, be it
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Emily Beggs Esarey, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Emily Esarey as an expression of our | ||||||
22 | deepest sympathy.
