2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of L. John Lee; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, L. John Lee grew up on a farm near Paxton and was |
5 | | a farmer by trade; he also worked as a broom-maker at the |
6 | | France Broom Company in Paxton; in 1961, he left that job to |
7 | | begin a long career as a real estate and insurance agent; in |
8 | | 1983, he sold his insurance business and purchased a 180-acre |
9 | | grain farm and hog operation in Hardin County, where he served |
10 | | as a director on the Pope/Hardin County Agricultural |
11 | | Stabilization and Conservation Service and Farm Bureau Boards; |
12 | | and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, L. John Lee was elected to serve as a Paxton City |
14 | | Alderman in 1965; 1969, he was elected to the first of his 2 |
15 | | terms as Mayor of Paxton; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, During L. John Lee's tenure as Mayor, the City of |
17 | | Paxton gained over 200 manufacturing jobs through the arrival |
18 | | of the Baltimore Aircoil Company next to Interstate 57; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, L. John Lee is survived by his daughter, Angie |
20 | | Lee; therefore, be it
