2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Catherine "Kay" Ann Shea of Wilmington, |
4 | | who passed away on December 21, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was born on January 7, 1922 in |
6 | | Joliet; her parents were Bernard "Bert" and Helen (nee Tebeau) |
7 | | Staehely; she married John "Elmer" Shea on July 19, 1944 in |
8 | | Fort Knox, Kentucky; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was raised in Joliet; she graduated |
10 | | from Joliet Township High School with the Class of 1940; she |
11 | | subsequently earned her Teaching Certification at Joliet |
12 | | Junior College; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Shea served as a teacher at the Minooka |
14 | | Country School; she later worked at Clennon Electric Company in |
15 | | Wilmington as a secretary; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was a very active member of St. |
17 | | Rose of Lima Parish in Wilmington, where she was involved with |
18 | | the Mother's Club, served on the Parish Council, and was a past |
19 | | officer of the Council of Catholic Women, who honored her with |
20 | | the Woman of the Year designation; she and her husband |
21 | | participated in the Catholic Family Movement; she was also a |

1 | | volunteer at the Kuzma Care Cottage; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was preceded by her husband; her |
3 | | parents; a daughter, Peggy Weitekamp; and a son, Daniel Joseph |
4 | | Shea; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Shea is survived by a son, Deacon John |
6 | | P. (Lynette) Shea; a daughter, Kathryn S. Shea; a son-in-law, |
7 | | Larry (Nancy) Weitekamp; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly (David) |
8 | | Gray, Brett (Cara) Weitekamp, Erin J. (Scott) Smith, Kate Shea, |
9 | | Kendra Albritton, Devyn Wingater, Austin Weitekamp, Ryan |
10 | | Weitekamp, Kayla Weitekamp, Lauren Weitekamp, and Kaitlin |
11 | | Weitekamp; 11 great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Ethan, Matthew, |
12 | | Suzanne, Abigail Grace, Aiden, Chase, Madison, Asia, and |
13 | | Benjamin; and many friends; therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
16 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Catherine "Kay" Ann |
17 | | Shea; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Catherine Shea as an expression of |
20 | | our sympathy.
