SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Emil "Sam" Spaeth of Waukegan, who
4passed away on October 18, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Spaeth was born in Waukegan on January 8,
61929 to Emil and Lena (nee Luschner) Spaeth; he married Mary
7Lou Trangmar on October 4, 1952; he served during the Korean
8War in the United States Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia,
9rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant; and
 
10    WHEREAS, George Spaeth worked for many years in the
11advertising department of Johnson Motors, Inc. as Manager of
12National Exhibits for boat shows in the United States and
13Canada; while working full-time and raising a family, he
14pursued his business degree and graduated from Northwestern
15University; and
 
16    WHEREAS, George Spaeth was a proud Northwestern Alum; he
17was active at St. Anastasia Catholic Parish for decades -
18serving with the Holy Name Society, the Pastoral Council, the
19School Board, the Bingo Committee, and as a Eucharistic
20Minister and lector; and
 
21    WHEREAS, George Spaeth was preceded in death by his

1parents; his siblings, Gertrude Wasnick, Mary Iverson, and
2Robert Gibson; and his 2 grandchildren, Connor Spaeth and Anne
3Spaeth; and
 
4    WHEREAS, George Spaeth is survived by his wife, Mary Lou;
5his 5 children, George D. Spaeth, Mary (Ken) Buroker, Doug
6(Karen) Spaeth, Jim (Lisa) Spaeth, and Cathy (John) McGowan;
7his grandchildren, Megan (Justin) Mirkes, Katie Buroker,
8Andrew (Erin) Spaeth, Emily and Christina Spaeth, Ellesse
9Spaeth, and Jay, Caleigh, and Liam McGowan; his great-grandson,
10Garik Spaeth; and by many loving nieces and nephews; therefore,
11be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14George Emil "Sam" Spaeth, and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of George Spaeth as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
