SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thaddius J. "Ted" Carvis, who passed away
4on September 9, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thaddius Carvis was born in West Pullman on April
627, 1911; he moved with his family to Chicago where he attended
7St. Stephens Church and Grade School and then Lane Technical
8High School; he married Dorothy Jahnke at St. Anastasia
9Catholic Parish on November 18, 1933; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Thaddius Carvis was a dedicated employee with
11Johnson Motors, Inc. for 39 years, retiring in 1975; he also
12worked for Druce Drug Store in Waukegan and as a watch and
13clock repairman at O'Dell Jewelry Store in Waukegan; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thaddius Carvis attended mass daily; he was an
15avid gardener and lawn masseuse, and was always a great
16neighbor; he enjoyed his talks with Vic and Rose over the
17fence; he was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Parish, where
18he ushered for over 40 years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Thaddius Carvis was preceded in death by his
20father, Marcel Karwowski; his mother, Emelia Ciborowski; his
21brothers, Marcel, Joseph, Leopold (Leo), William, George, and

1Raymond; his sisters, Mary, Estelle, Harriett, Jean, Alice, and
2Regina; his daughter, Dorothy Lee; and his wife of 73 years,
3Dorothy; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Thaddius Carvis is survived by his 2 daughters,
5JoAnn (Clarence) Wicketts and Sandra (Joseph) Chess; his son,
6Thaddius (Marcia); his 7 grandchildren, Larry Wicketts, Lori
7Poloway, Tim Chess, Andrea (Mark) Carrier, Suzy (Jimi) Homan,
8Thaddius "TJ" Carvis, and Cristen Carvis; his 12
9great-grandchildren, Sara Wargo, Alex (Sonja) Wicketts, Logan
10Wicketts, Melissa and Joey Poloway, Mac and Lexi Carrier,
11James, Joey, Jackson, and Jaden Homan, and Cassandra Chess; and
12his 5 great-great-grandchildren, Emily and Shelby Wargo,
13Eleanor and Thaddius Carvis, and Briseis Wicketts; therefore,
14be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Thaddius J. "Ted" Carvis, and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Thaddius Carvis as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
