Amends the Leases Article of the Uniform Commercial Code in relation to choice of judicial forum. Provides that if the forum chosen otherwise would not have jurisdiction over the lessee, the jurisdiction shall be that in which the lessee resides at the time the lease agreement becomes enforceable.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Uniform Commercial Code is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 2A-106 as follows:
|

| 9 | | (1) If the law chosen by the parties to a consumer lease
is |
| 10 | | that of a jurisdiction other than a jurisdiction in which the
|
| 11 | | lessee resides at the time the lease agreement becomes
|
| 12 | | enforceable or within 30 days thereafter or in which the goods
|
| 13 | | are to be used, the choice is not enforceable.
|
| 14 | | (2) If the judicial forum chosen by the parties to a
|
| 15 | | consumer lease is a forum that would not otherwise have
|
| 16 | | jurisdiction over the lessee, the choice is not enforceable and |
| 17 | | the jurisdiction shall be that in which the lessee resides at |
| 18 | | the time the lease agreement becomes enforceable.
