Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Gives code enforcement officials employed by units of local government the power to enforce a provision relating to the display of company insignia on construction vehicles while the vehicle is being used on a worksite located within the boundaries of the local jurisdiction. Provides that if an alleged violation of provisions relating to the display of company insignia has been corrected prior to or on the date of a hearing scheduled to adjudicate the alleged violation, the code enforcement official shall dismiss the violation. Defines "code enforcement official". Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 12-713 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 12-713.
Commercial trucks used by construction |
8 | | contractors or
subcontractors to display company name.

9 | | (a) Every second division vehicle operating commercially |
10 | | in this State that
is used by a construction contractor or |
11 | | subcontractor shall display on the side
of the vehicle or its |
12 | | trailer the name of the company for which it is employed.
The |
13 | | name shall be in letters at least 2 inches tall and one-half |
14 | | inch wide.
This Section shall not apply to any motor vehicle |
15 | | upon which is affixed the
insignia required under Section |
16 | | 18c-4701 of the Illinois Commercial
Transportation Law.

17 | | (b) Any person convicted of violating this Section shall be |
18 | | guilty of a
petty offense and subject to a fine of not less |
19 | | than $500.
|
20 | | (c) This Section may be enforced by code enforcement |
21 | | officials employed by units of local government while the |
22 | | vehicle is being used on a worksite located within the |
