Amends the Chicago Teacher Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Authorizes the Board to issue subpoenas in an administrative hearing to compel testimony and the production of records. Authorizes the payment of fees to witnesses and the administration of oaths. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 17-143.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (40 ILCS 5/17-143.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 17-143.5. To subpoena witnesses and compel the |
| 8 | | production of records. The Board shall have the power to issue |
| 9 | | subpoenas in an administrative hearing to compel the testimony |
| 10 | | of witnesses and the production of documents for any necessary |
| 11 | | matter concerning the Fund, and to allow reasonable fees to |
| 12 | | such witnesses for attendance at such meetings in amounts to be |
| 13 | | determined by the Board. The presiding member of the Board or |
| 14 | | committee may administer oaths of witnesses. The Board may |
| 15 | | apply to any court for an order requiring compliance with a |
| 16 | | subpoena issued under this Section.

| 17 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 18 | | becoming law.
