Amends the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to (i) annually confer and reach agreement with the Illinois Community College Board, the Department of Employment Security, and the Illinois Career and Technical Administrators Association to identify industries and occupations within this State that face workforce shortages or shortages of adequately trained, entry-level workers; (ii) annually notify school districts of these identified industries and occupations and make this information available on its Internet website; and (iii) approve industry-recognized certification programs designed to mitigate workforce shortages in any of the identified industries or occupations. 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 2-3.167 as follows: |
6 | | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.167 new) |
7 | | Sec. 2-3.167. Annual career and technical education |
8 | | program review. |
9 | | (a) The State Board of Education shall: |
10 | | (1) annually confer and reach agreement with the |
11 | | Illinois Community College Board, the Department of |
12 | | Employment Security, and the Illinois Career and Technical |
13 | | Administrators Association to identify industries and |
14 | | occupations within this State that face workforce |
15 | | shortages or shortages of adequately trained, entry-level |
16 | | workers; |
17 | | (2) annually notify school districts of the identified |
18 | | industries and occupations and make this information |
19 | | available on its Internet website; and |
20 | | (3) approve industry-recognized certification programs |
