| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 10-22.18b as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/10-22.18b) (from Ch. 122, par. 10-22.18b)

| 7 | | Sec. 10-22.18b. Before and after school programs. To |
| 8 | | develop and
and maintain
before school and after school |
| 9 | | programs for students in kindergarten through
the 6th grade. |
| 10 | | Such programs may include time for homework, physical exercise,
|
| 11 | | afternoon nutritional snacks and educational offerings which |
| 12 | | are
in addition to those offered during the regular school day. |
| 13 | | The chief administrator
in each district shall be a certified |
| 14 | | teacher or a person who meets the
requirements for supervising |
| 15 | | a day care center under the Child Care Act
of 1969. Individual |
| 16 | | programs shall be coordinated by certified teachers
or by |
| 17 | | persons who meet the requirements for supervising a day care |
| 18 | | center
under the Child Care Act of 1969. Additional employees |
| 19 | | who are not so qualified
may also be employed for such |
| 20 | | programs. |
| 21 | | The schedule of these programs may follow the work calendar |
| 22 | | of the local
community rather than the regular school calendar. |
| 23 | | Parents or guardians
of the participating
