Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that the Illinois Commerce Commission shall issue a report evaluating whether the provisions of the Act are sufficient to allow consideration and, where appropriate, implementation of technological and other innovations that benefit electric utility customers. Provides for repeal of the provisions on January 1, 2017. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 9-228 as follows: |
6 | | (220 ILCS 5/9-228 new) |
7 | | Sec. 9-228. Report; technological and other innovations. |
8 | | No later than June 30, 2016, the Commission shall issue a |
9 | | report evaluating whether the provisions of this Act are |
10 | | sufficient to allow consideration and, where appropriate, |
11 | | implementation of technological and other innovations that |
12 | | benefit electric utility customers. |
13 | | This Section is repealed on January 1, 2017.

14 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
15 | | becoming law.
