Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that the board may adopt ordinances regulating the supervision and monitoring of fire alarm systems maintained within the district. Allows the board to collect reasonable fees for fire alarm services that are provided to customers by the district itself or through a vendor approved by the board. Amends the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004. Exempts from the requirements of the Act a unit of local government or its employee that directly engages in fire alarm supervision and monitoring pursuant to an ordinance adopted under the Fire Protection District Act. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 11 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 11.
The board of trustees of any fire protection |
8 | | district
incorporated under this Act has the power and it is |
9 | | its legal duty and
obligation to provide as nearly adequate |
10 | | protection from fire for all
persons and property within the |
11 | | said district as possible and to
prescribe necessary |
12 | | regulations for the prevention and control of fire
therein. |
13 | | (a) The board of trustees may provide
and maintain life |
14 | | saving and rescue equipment, services and facilities,
|
15 | | including an emergency ambulance service.
|
16 | | (b) Except in cities having a population of 500,000 or more |
17 | | inhabitants and
except in municipalities in which fire |
18 | | prevention codes have been
adopted, the board of trustees has |
19 | | the express power to adopt and
enforce fire prevention codes |
20 | | and standards parallel to national
standards. |
21 | | (c) The board of trustees may adopt ordinances regulating |
22 | | the supervision and monitoring of fire alarm systems maintained |
23 | | within the district's boundaries. The board may collect |
