Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that no insurer that issues an accident and health insurance policy in this State may impose greater fees for copayments, coinsurance, or office visit deductibles for covered services provided by a licensed physical therapist than the fees charged for copayments, coinsurance, and office visit deductibles for the same covered services provided by a licensed primary care physician. Provides that every insurer that issues an accident and health insurance policy in this State that provides coverage for physical therapy shall clearly state in its policies the availability of coverage for physical therapy and all related limitations, conditions, and exclusions.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 368g as follows: |
6 | | (215 ILCS 5/368g new) |
7 | | Sec. 368g. Coverage for physical therapy. On and after |
8 | | effective date of this amendatory Act of the 99th General |
9 | | Assembly, no insurer that amends, delivers, issues, or renews a |
10 | | policy of accident and health insurance in this State may |
11 | | impose greater fees for copayments, coinsurance, or office |
12 | | visit deductibles for covered services provided by a licensed |
13 | | physical therapist than the fees charged for copayments, |
14 | | coinsurance, and office visit deductibles for the same covered |
15 | | services provided by a licensed primary care physician. Every |
16 | | insurer that amends, delivers, issues, or renews a policy of |
17 | | accident and health insurance in this State that provides |
18 | | coverage for physical therapy shall clearly state in its |
19 | | policies the availability of coverage for physical therapy and |
20 | | all related limitations, conditions, and exclusions.
