Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Makes an addition to the definition of a "medical examiner" or "medical practitioner" to include a licensed optometrist for the purpose of certifying vision fitness to operate a motor vehicle.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 6-901 as follows:
|
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/6-901) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 6-901)

7 | | Sec. 6-901. Definitions. For the purposes of this
Article:
|
8 | | "Board" means the Driver's License Medical Advisory Board.
|
9 | | "Medical examiner" or "medical practitioner" means: |
10 | | (i) any
person licensed to practice medicine in all its |
11 | | branches in
the State of Illinois or any other state;
|
12 | | (ii) a licensed physician assistant who has been |
13 | | delegated the performance of medical examinations by his or |
14 | | her supervising physician; or |
15 | | (iii) a licensed advanced practice nurse who has a |
16 | | written collaborative agreement with a collaborating |
17 | | physician which authorizes him or her to perform medical |
18 | | examinations ; or . |
19 | | (iv) a licensed optometrist for the purpose of |
20 | | certifying vision fitness to operate a motor vehicle. |
