AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 545 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 545 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 
5Joliet Correctional Center Remediation Act.
 
6    Section 5. Property description. The Joliet Correctional 
7Center is located at 1125 Collins Street, Joliet Township, Will 
8County, Illinois. The Joliet Correctional Center includes: (i) 
9the property commonly referred to as Prison West, which 
10comprises approximately 20 acres on the west side of Collins 
11Street in Joliet between Hills Avenue to the north and Woodruff 
12Road to the south; and (ii) the property commonly known as 
13Prison East, which comprises approximately 160 acres, located 
14on the east side of Collins Street in Joliet.
 
15    Section 10. Remediation.

 Notwithstanding any provision of

1law to the contrary, at the property described in Section 5 of 
2this Act, the Department of Central Management Services, on 
3behalf of the State of Illinois, is hereby responsible for:

4        (1)   the remediation of all environmental hazards, 
5    contamination, and pollution present as of the effective 
6    date of this Act; and

7        (2)   the repair of all structural hazards present as of 
8    the effective date of this Act.
 
9    Section 15. Maintenance.

 Notwithstanding any provision of 
10law to the contrary, at the property described in Section 5 of 
11this Act, as long as title to the property is held by the State 
12of Illinois, the Department of Central Management Services, on 
13behalf of the State of Illinois, is hereby responsible for:

14        (1)   the prevention of unauthorized entry to the site;

15        (2)   the cutting of grass and weeds and the removal of 
16    garbage and debris from those parts of the site bordering 
17    on roadways; and

18        (3)   the removal of graffiti on any building or 
19    structure at the site bordering on roadways.".
