HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Carol
Shehorn on 
4the occasion of her retirement on December 31, 2016, after 27 
5years of dedicated service as
a leadership secretary for the 
6Democratic Caucus of the Illinois House of Representatives; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Since September 21, 1987, Carol Shehorn has served 
8in important roles behind the scenes to
keep all legislators, 
9staff, and other interested parties well-informed about 
10pending legislation; her job
included creating, with never an 
11error, and distributing the House Rules Committee reports, 
12which are
often pages and pages long; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Carol Shehorn was the model of efficiency, 
14effectiveness, patience, and caring; she worked
with House 
15Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie for many years, as well as 
16other leaders, including Jim
McPike, Gary Hannig, Jack McGuire, 
17and Sara Feigenholtz; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Due to her  ability to maintain her pleasant 
19disposition and offer a smile to everyone, even on the
most 
20hectic of session days, Carol Shehorn earned the Golden 
21Horseshoe Award for Best House Administrative
Assistant in 2013 
22and 2015; and

1    WHEREAS, Carol Shehorn never saw her job as an opportunity 
2to burnish her own halo but rather to make
everyone else look 
3good; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Carol Shehorn will remain active in her retirement 
5with her husband, Cliff, their children, and
their many 
6grandchildren; she plans to indulge her passion for overseas 
7travel, particularly to visit with her family in
Italy; she 
8will expand her volunteer hours and interests with her church 
9and St. John's Hospital; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12congratulate the irreplaceable Carol Shehorn on her

13retirement, thank her for her many years of dedicated service 
14to the Illinois General Assembly and the
people of the State of 
15Illinois, and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; 
16and be it further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to Carol Shehorn as a symbol of our
respect and 
19esteem.
