2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Ronald P. Cooley of |
4 | | Petersburg on the occasion of his retirement as Executive |
5 | | Director of the Illinois State Police Merit Board on December |
6 | | 31, 2016; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Cooley has been called a Yankee Doodle, |
8 | | having been born on the Fourth of July; he attended St. Joseph |
9 | | Grade School in Pekin, where his mother was a teacher, and he |
10 | | graduated from Pekin High School; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Cooley has been serving as Executive |
12 | | Director of the Illinois State Police Merit Board since January |
13 | | 1, 2008; as Executive Director, he demonstrated his unique |
14 | | abilities to transcend political philosophies for the |
15 | | betterment of all Illinois citizens; he was the driving force |
16 | | for the establishment of Public Act 97-1051 and the State |
17 | | Police Merit Board Public Safety Fund, a dedicated funding |
18 | | source for Illinois State Police cadet training so the |
19 | | department will be able to maintain staffing levels necessary |
20 | | for the safety of Illinois motorists; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Cooley served as the Deputy Chief of Staff |
22 | | for Intergovernmental Operations under former Comptroller, |
|

1 | | Dawn Clark Netsch, and as the Deputy Director for |
2 | | Intergovernmental Affairs under Secretary of State, Jesse |
3 | | White; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Ronald Cooley will |
5 | | continue to volunteer and serve his community with various |
6 | | organizations; he was instrumental in organizing the Secretary |
7 | | of State Annual Vehicle Show and Swap Meet and will remain |
8 | | interested in classic cars and antique tractors; he will |
9 | | continue volunteering at the Peoria Area Food Bank; he serves |
10 | | as President of the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation |
11 | | and has made it his goal to fund and construct an Illinois |
12 | | State Police Memorial Park on South Sixth Street in |
13 | | Springfield, adjacent to the Illinois State Police |
14 | | headquarters; he will also continue serving on the Illinois |
15 | | State Fair Museum Foundation Board, a group dedicated to |
16 | | continuing the legacy of the Illinois State Fair, and the |
17 | | DuQuoin State Bank Board of Directors; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Cooley is looking forward to spending more |
19 | | time with his family, including his wife, Linda Morris-Cooley, |
20 | | his children, Kristi, Michael, and Nick (Heather), and his |
21 | | grandchildren, Zabian, Sebastian, Julian, Mason, and |
22 | | AnnaBelle; and
|
23 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Cooley serves as a model of hard work, |

1 | | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
2 | | Illinois; therefore, be it

3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
4 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
5 | | congratulate Ronald P. Cooley on the occasion of his retirement |
6 | | and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and |
7 | | be it further

8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
9 | | presented to Ronald Cooley as a symbol of our esteem and |
