HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to honor Ed Paesel for his distinguished 
4and dedicated service as Executive Director for the South 
5Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA); and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Ed Paesel began his tenure as only the second 
7Executive Director of the South Suburban Mayors and
Managers 
8Association in May of 2000; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Ed Paesel is a lifelong resident of the south 
10suburbs; he attended Bloom Township High School and was 
11inducted into the school's hall of fame; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ed Paesel received his bachelor's degree in 1971 
13and his master's degree in
1973, both from Illinois State 
14University; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Prior to becoming the Executive Director with 
16SSMMA, Ed Paesel's home community of Sauk Village elected
him 
17into public office for 16 years, the last 12 as Mayor; and
 
18    WHEREAS, During his tenure with SSMMA, Ed Paesel was 
19appointed to numerous posts including, the METRA Board of 
20Directors, the Access to Care Board of Directors, the Cook

1County Workforce
Investment Board, and the Land Use Committee 
2for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency on Planning; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ed Paesel was selected to be on multiple 
4gubernatorial transition teams representing the south suburbs; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, As Executive Director, Ed Paesel oversaw
the 
7growth in the services provided to member communities and 
8increases of intergovernmental
collaboration; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Ed Paesel, SSMMA was a 
10catalyst for tens of millions of dollars in grant funding for 
11the benefit of member municipalities and their collective 
12700,000 citizens; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Ed Paesel has received numerous accolades and 
14recognitions throughout his career; he is well respected across 
15the membership of the SSMMA and is held in high regard by State 
16and national legislators; therefore, be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
18NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
19honor Ed Paesel for his distinguished and dedicated service as 
20Executive Director for the South Suburban Mayors and Managers 
21Association; and be it further
