|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to commend and applaud Patty Ryan for her |
4 | | great dedication and her many significant achievements; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Saint Ignatius College Prep, a Jesuit Catholic |
6 | | school in the heart of Chicago, is a diverse community |
7 | | dedicated to educating young men and women for lives of faith, |
8 | | love, service, and leadership; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Through outstanding teaching and personal |
10 | | formation, Saint Ignatius College Prep challenges its talented |
11 | | student body to intellectual excellence, integrity, and |
12 | | lifelong learning and growth; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan is an esteemed alumni of Saint Ignatius |
14 | | College Prep, embodying wholeheartedly the belief that the |
15 | | Saint Ignatius graduate will examine his or her religious |
16 | | feelings and beliefs with a view to adhering to her faith's |
17 | | choice of a fundamental orientation toward God and establishing |
18 | | a relationship with a religious tradition and community; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan believes in taking more responsibility |
20 | | for exploring, confirming, and living out her own faith; she |
21 | | embodies a core tenant of her faith by continuing to move |

1 | | beyond self-interest or self-centeredness in her relationships |
2 | | with others; and

3 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan demonstrates herself to be a person for |
4 | | others in the Jesuit tradition and encourages her players and |
5 | | students to be men and women for others; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, As a Saint Ignatius College Prep alumni, Patty |
7 | | Ryan accepts the charge of her faith to embrace intentional |
8 | | responsibility for her own growth and to risk deeper levels of |
9 | | relationship in which one discloses self, accepts the mystery |
10 | | of another person, and cherishes that person; she has also |
11 | | achieved considerable knowledge of some of the many needs of |
12 | | local and wider communities and has taken a place in these |
13 | | communities as a competent, concerned, and responsible member; |
14 | | and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan continues to exhibit personal growth of |
16 | | mastery of intellectual integrity in her personal quest for the |
17 | | truth of her religious beliefs and her response to issues of |
18 | | social justice; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan was an esteemed participant on the |
20 | | Saint Ignatius Wolfpack Girls Varsity Volleyball Team and |
21 | | started all four years of high school on the Varsity Team; and |
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan was an All-State volleyball stand-out |
2 | | at Saint Ignatius College Prep, with some of her |
3 | | accomplishments including Saint Ignatius Team MVP (1994), |
4 | | All-Division and All-Conference for the Girls Catholic |
5 | | Athletic Conference (1991-1994), Chicago Sun Times All-Area |
6 | | Team (1994), Chicago Tribune All-Area Team (1994), and |
7 | | induction into the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference Hall of |
8 | | Fame (2011-2012); and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from Saint Ignatius College |
10 | | Prep, Patty Ryan went on to earn a full-ride volleyball |
11 | | scholarship from Loyola University Chicago; during her senior |
12 | | year at Loyola University Chicago, she was named Player of the |
13 | | Year in that athletic conference; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, As a Saint Ignatius Varsity assistant varsity |
15 | | volleyball coach, Patty Ryan endeavors to develop student |
16 | | athletes not only on the court, but off the court as well, and |
17 | | to help them learn self-discipline, perseverance, hard work, a |
18 | | sense of personal and school pride, and personal integrity; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Over the past 16 years, Patty Ryan helped lead the |
20 | | Saint Ignatius Wolfpack Varsity Volleyball team to 10 IHSA |
21 | | Regional Championships, three IHSA Sectional Championships, |
22 | | five IHSA Sweet Sixteen appearances, and one Girls Athletic |
23 | | Conference Championship; under her leadership, the team beat |

1 | | the Mother McAuley Mighty Macs for the first time in Saint |
2 | | Ignatius school history; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan has recently been informed of her |
4 | | successful nomination for induction into the Saint Ignatius |
5 | | Hall of Fame; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Patty Ryan's husband Michael and her children, |
7 | | Abby, Kelly, Mikey, and Patrick, are abundantly proud of her |
8 | | achievements; therefore, be it

9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
10 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
11 | | commend and applaud Patty Ryan for her great dedication and |
12 | | many significant achievements and wish her great success and |
13 | | happiness in the future; and be it further

14 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
15 | | presented to Patty Ryan as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
