| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the administration and |
| 4 | | staff of The Courtyard on the occasion of the organization's |
| 5 | | 25th anniversary of supporting Wellness House; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Courtyard was started in 1991 by eight women |
| 7 | | whose lives were touched by cancer, to provide ongoing |
| 8 | | financial support for the then one-year-old Wellness House; the |
| 9 | | group provides Wellness House with monthly proceeds between |
| 10 | | other fundraising efforts and serves as a community |
| 11 | | representative of Wellness House and supporter of the |
| 12 | | community; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The Courtyard has generated more than $4 million |
| 14 | | in proceeds to Wellness House; volunteers from the Courtyard |
| 15 | | have donated more than 100,000 hours, a value of $2 million; |
| 16 | | and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Courtyard is now supported by more than 60 |
| 18 | | volunteers, more than a dozen of whom come in on Mondays when |
| 19 | | it is closed to help price and process new items and then |
| 20 | | assist in staging the shop into the beautiful vignettes for |
| 21 | | which they are known; more than 50 volunteers serve as customer |
| 22 | | service and sales staff providing a customer-friendly and |
|

| 1 | | caring shopping "experience" as well as serve as liaisons for |
| 2 | | Wellness House providing information about Wellness House and |
| 3 | | its programs; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Terri Barrett, Peggy Claffo, Anne Emmons, Cindy |
| 5 | | Fick, Laura Mueller, Merry Newman, Genie Nowak, Sue Gelman, |
| 6 | | Margaret Stocker, Marie Trader, Mary Ann Ryan, Monique Walters, |
| 7 | | Sheila Botti, Nancy Keenan, and Kathy Ryan have been with The |
| 8 | | Courtyard since its very first year; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The administration and staff of The Courtyard |
| 10 | | serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the |
| 11 | | people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 14 | | congratulate the administration and staff of The Courtyard on |
| 15 | | the occasion of the organization's 25th anniversary of |
| 16 | | supporting Wellness House and wish them continued success and |
| 17 | | happiness in the future; and be it further

| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to The Courtyard as a symbol of our esteem and |
| 20 | | respect.
