|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs on |
4 | | the occasion of her retirement as President of Danville Area |
5 | | Community College; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Alice Jacobs became the sixth President and |
7 | | only the second female leader of Danville Area Community |
8 | | College in September of 1999; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Dr. Alice Jacobs, Danville |
10 | | Area Community College has been a leader in workforce |
11 | | development, reallocating resources to add new locally |
12 | | in-demand programs in Health Professions and Manufacturing; as |
13 | | a result of good stewardship and program growth, Dr. Jacobs has |
14 | | expanded and renovated campus facilities and established the |
15 | | Higher Learning Center in Hoopeston to better meet the needs of |
16 | | residents in the northern part of the college district; local |
17 | | partnerships have been strengthened, particularly those with |
18 | | area K-12 districts and the Regional Superintendent's office; |
19 | | the college was also named a Leader College in Achieving the |
20 | | Dream and has undergone two successful major gift campaigns for |
21 | | support of DACC students and programs; and
|
22 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Alice Jacobs has served on the American |
|

1 | | Association of Community Colleges Board and its Executive |
2 | | Committee; she was co-chair of Governor Bruce Rauner's |
3 | | Education Policy Transition Committee; she is a member of the |
4 | | Illinois Board of Higher Education and Chair of the Illinois |
5 | | Community College Presidents Council; she served as President |
6 | | of the North Central Association of Two-Year Colleges and the |
7 | | Danville Noon Rotary; she served as Chair of the Danville |
8 | | United Way Campaign and first Chair of the Vermilion Advantage |
9 | | Board; she also served as President of the Danville Symphony |
10 | | Board; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Alice Jacobs has received numerous awards and |
12 | | recognitions, including the 2002 Rotary Vocational Service |
13 | | Award, the 2003 Green Meadow Girl Scouts Council Woman of |
14 | | Distinction Award, the 2007 Woman of Achievement Award from the |
15 | | American Association of University Women, the 2008 Elks |
16 | | Distinguished Citizenship Award, the 2009 Outstanding Service |
17 | | Award from the Illinois Association of Regional |
18 | | Superintendents of Schools, the 2010 Golden Ruler Award from |
19 | | the Regional Office of Education, and the 2015 Visionary Award |
20 | | from the Eastern Illinois Community Action Agency; her |
21 | | leadership skills were also recognized by the Association of |
22 | | Community College Trustees in 2007 with the Central Region's |
23 | | Outstanding CEO Award; and
|
24 | | WHEREAS, Following her retirement, Dr. Alice Jacobs plans |

1 | | to continue her service to community colleges on the State and |
2 | | national levels through her involvement with the Illinois Board |
3 | | of Higher Education and as a Peer Reviewer through the Higher |
4 | | Learning Commission; therefore, be it

5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
6 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
7 | | congratulate Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs on the occasion of her |
8 | | retirement and wish her continued success and happiness in the |
9 | | future; and be it further

10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to Dr. Alice Jacobs as a symbol of our esteem and |
12 | | respect.
