2 | | WHEREAS, All-terrain vehicles are used by many Americans |
3 | | for recreation and work-related activities; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Many national forests and recreational areas, |
5 | | including Hiawatha National Forest, Huron-Manistee National |
6 | | Forest, and Ottawa National Forest in Michigan, Land Between |
7 | | the Lakes in Kentucky, Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee, |
8 | | Wayne National Forest in Ohio, and Allegheny National Forest in |
9 | | Pennsylvania, allow the use of all-terrain vehicles on forest |
10 | | trails; and

11 | | WHEREAS, Currently, the use of all-terrain vehicles in |
12 | | Shawnee National Forest is only available through a disability |
13 | | permit program; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Shawnee National Forest features numerous areas |
15 | | for riding horses, including the Burden Fall Wilderness, the |
16 | | Camp Cadiz Campground, One Horse Gap Lake, the Bald Knob Cross |
17 | | Trail, the Johnson Creek Recreation Area, the Kinkaid Lake |
18 | | Trail System, the Little Grand Canyon, and the Panther Den |
19 | | Wilderness, but many members of the public have expressed their |
20 | | wish to have greater opportunities for horse riding within |
21 | | Shawnee National Forest; and
