HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Louise "Big Ma" Jenkins on 
4the occasion of her 90th birthday on May 20, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Louise Jenkins was born on May 20, 1926 in 
6Autaugaville, Alabama, to Ed Tyus and Bythie Steele; she 
7married the late James Jenkins in 1943; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Louise Jenkins obtained her education in 
9Autaugaville, Alabama before moving with her family to Chicago 
10in 1954; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, A woman of deep and abiding faith, Louise Jenkins 
12has been an active member of Lively Stone Missionary Baptist 
13Church for over 50 years, where she served faithfully teaching 
14youth and young adults in the choir and Sunday school, and as 
15church librarian and historian for many years; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Louise Jenkins is a model citizen who actively 
17educates herself on political issues and proudly casts her vote 
18in every election; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Louise Jenkins is the mother of 15; the 
20grandmother of 41; the great-grandmother of 95; and the

1great-great-grandmother of 34; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Louise Jenkins, along with her family and friends, 
3will gather to commemorate and celebrate her 90th birthday at 
4Alpine Banquets in Darien on May 28, 2016; the festivities will 
5conclude with a picnic in Bolingbrook; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8congratulate Louise "Big Ma" Jenkins on the occasion of her 
990th birthday and wish her many happy and healthy years to 
10come; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Louise Jenkins as a symbol of our esteem and 
13respect.
