HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Andrea Lynne Anderson on the occasion of her retirement as Assistant Superintendent of Oak Lawn Hometown School District 123; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Anderson has over 35 years in education; from 1979 to 1981, she was the physical education and social studies teacher at Lutheran High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; from 1983 to 1984, she was the physical education teacher at Our Saviour Lutheran in Bronx, New York; from 1984 to 1989, she was the principal at Lutheran High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; from 1990 to 1999, she was the principal at Ashburn Lutheran School in Chicago; from 1999 to 2003, she was the Assistant Principal of Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School; from 2003 to 2010, she was the principal of Oak Lawn Hometown High School; and from 2010 to the present, she was Assistant Superintendent of Oak Lawn Hometown School District 123; and

WHEREAS, Some of Andrea Anderson's accomplishments include being the sole administrator at smaller parochial schools for 18 years prior to coming to District 123; participating in athletics, fundraising, student trips, transportation, and serving as the occasional bus driver; teaching a graduate level course in education at Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago; leading in-service workshops for other educators on the topics of: classroom management and student discipline, stress management, and teacher evaluation techniques; and leading adult study/discussion groups on various issues related to parenting; she was granted Illinois Administrators' Academy in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Anderson served on the Long Range Plan Committee in 1999 for School District 123; she changed the focus of the District's educational programming for the upper grade students; she volunteers at all of District 123 events such as, The Back to School Event, Fun Fair, Parent University, and all Make-A-Wish fundraiser events held at the schools; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Anderson graduated from Lutheran West High School in 1975; she received her Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College in River Forest in 1979 and Master of Arts in School Administration from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida; she received her Type 75 Administrative Certification in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Anderson is planning on retiring in Florida, where her adventure in education started, to be close to her family; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Anderson will be missed tremendously by everyone in the District and her close friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Andrea Lynne Anderson on her retirement as Assistant Superintendent of Oak Lawn Hometown School District 123 and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Andrea Anderson as an expression of our esteem and respect.
