HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Silvano Aureoles Conejo 
4on the occasion of his electoral victory in becoming the 
5Elected Constitutional Governor of the State of Michoacan for 
6the 2015-2021 term; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Silvano Conejo was born in Caracuaro, Michoacan in 
81965; a proud Michoacano, he overcame his humble beginnings and 
9many hardships to become an Agricultural Engineer, with a 
10specialization in Forestry from the Autonomous University of 
11Chapingo; he obtained his master's degree from this same 
12institution in Regional Rural Developmental Sciences; during 
13his time in college, he became a prominent student leader 
14thanks to his leadership and persuasiveness; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, As a father of 2 daughters, Silvano Conejo is a 
16committed supporter of the youth and women of Michoacan, which 
17he assures will play an important role throughout his 
18administration; he has tirelessly fought for social issues 
19since he participated in the fight to create political change 
20in Mexico by forming part of the National Democratic Front in 
21Zitacuaro at the age of 23 and later participating in the 
22founding of the Democratic Revolution Party in 1989; since 
23then, he has served as Municipal President, Federal

1Representative, and Senator for Zitacuaro; as a 
2Representative, he occupied the Presidency of the Rural 
3Development Commission and integrated the commissions of 
4Forestry, Agriculture, Ecology, and Environment; in the upper 
5house, he headed several commissions, including the Agrarian 
6Reform, North American Foreign Affairs, and Governance and 
7Justice Commissions; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, In recognition of his leadership, Silvano Conejo 
9was elected unanimously as President of the Administrative 
10Board of the House of Representatives for the last year of the 
1162nd Legislature; in the Senate, he won the Vice Presidency of 
12the Administrative Counsel of the Senate of the Republic; as a 
13Federal Representative, he headed the largest resource 
14management campaign in the history of Michoacan by supporting 
15state and municipal governments, social groups, and citizen 
16initiative projects; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, In February of 2015, Silvano Conejo was 
18unanimously elected as the candidate for the Democratic 
19Revolution Party to the state Governorship, where he created an 
20alliance with the Work Party, the New Alliance, and the Social 
21Encounter parties; throughout the electoral race, he led a 
22campaign of citizen proposals and empathy and solidified his 
23support among the voters through a tour of the municipalities 
24and communities in Michoacan; his hard work led him to

1overwhelmingly win the election on June 7, 2015, obtaining 
2637,503 votes, and was declared Elected Constitutional 
3Governor of the State of Michoacan for the 2015-2021 term; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Silvano Conejo serves as a model of hard work, 
5integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
6Michoacan, the State of Illinois, and the world at large; 
7therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10congratulate Silvano Aureoles Conejo on the occasion of his 
11electoral victory in becoming the Elected Constitutional 
12Governor of the State of Michoacan for the 2015-2021 term and 
13wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be 
14it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Silvano Conejo as a symbol of our esteem and 
17respect.
