2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Silvano Aureoles Conejo |
4 | | on the occasion of his electoral victory in becoming the |
5 | | Elected Constitutional Governor of the State of Michoacan for |
6 | | the 2015-2021 term; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Silvano Conejo was born in Caracuaro, Michoacan in |
8 | | 1965; a proud Michoacano, he overcame his humble beginnings and |
9 | | many hardships to become an Agricultural Engineer, with a |
10 | | specialization in Forestry from the Autonomous University of |
11 | | Chapingo; he obtained his master's degree from this same |
12 | | institution in Regional Rural Developmental Sciences; during |
13 | | his time in college, he became a prominent student leader |
14 | | thanks to his leadership and persuasiveness; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, As a father of 2 daughters, Silvano Conejo is a |
16 | | committed supporter of the youth and women of Michoacan, which |
17 | | he assures will play an important role throughout his |
18 | | administration; he has tirelessly fought for social issues |
19 | | since he participated in the fight to create political change |
20 | | in Mexico by forming part of the National Democratic Front in |
21 | | Zitacuaro at the age of 23 and later participating in the |
22 | | founding of the Democratic Revolution Party in 1989; since |
23 | | then, he has served as Municipal President, Federal |

1 | | Representative, and Senator for Zitacuaro; as a |
2 | | Representative, he occupied the Presidency of the Rural |
3 | | Development Commission and integrated the commissions of |
4 | | Forestry, Agriculture, Ecology, and Environment; in the upper |
5 | | house, he headed several commissions, including the Agrarian |
6 | | Reform, North American Foreign Affairs, and Governance and |
7 | | Justice Commissions; and

8 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of his leadership, Silvano Conejo |
9 | | was elected unanimously as President of the Administrative |
10 | | Board of the House of Representatives for the last year of the |
11 | | 62nd Legislature; in the Senate, he won the Vice Presidency of |
12 | | the Administrative Counsel of the Senate of the Republic; as a |
13 | | Federal Representative, he headed the largest resource |
14 | | management campaign in the history of Michoacan by supporting |
15 | | state and municipal governments, social groups, and citizen |
16 | | initiative projects; and

17 | | WHEREAS, In February of 2015, Silvano Conejo was |
18 | | unanimously elected as the candidate for the Democratic |
19 | | Revolution Party to the state Governorship, where he created an |
20 | | alliance with the Work Party, the New Alliance, and the Social |
21 | | Encounter parties; throughout the electoral race, he led a |
22 | | campaign of citizen proposals and empathy and solidified his |
23 | | support among the voters through a tour of the municipalities |
24 | | and communities in Michoacan; his hard work led him to |

1 | | overwhelmingly win the election on June 7, 2015, obtaining |
2 | | 637,503 votes, and was declared Elected Constitutional |
3 | | Governor of the State of Michoacan for the 2015-2021 term; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Silvano Conejo serves as a model of hard work, |
5 | | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
6 | | Michoacan, the State of Illinois, and the world at large; |
7 | | therefore, be it

8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
9 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
10 | | congratulate Silvano Aureoles Conejo on the occasion of his |
11 | | electoral victory in becoming the Elected Constitutional |
12 | | Governor of the State of Michoacan for the 2015-2021 term and |
13 | | wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be |
14 | | it further

15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 | | presented to Silvano Conejo as a symbol of our esteem and |
17 | | respect.
