| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the Morton |
| 4 | | High School Marching Band on the occasion of being the 2015 |
| 5 | | State of Illinois Class 2A Champions; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Morton High School Marching Band has been |
| 7 | | widely recognized as a top performing program in the State of |
| 8 | | Illinois for the past 11 years; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Neavor is in his 15th year as Morton High |
| 10 | | School Band Director and has led over 700 individual members; 1 |
| 11 | | in 5 students at Morton High School are members of the marching |
| 12 | | band; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Neavor lovingly leads, shapes, and molds his |
| 14 | | band members into confident and accomplished musicians and |
| 15 | | performers; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, With performances at the Presidential Inaugural |
| 17 | | Parade in 2009 and Bands of America Grand National Semifinals |
| 18 | | in 2010, 11 consecutive Illinois Class 2A State Championships, |
| 19 | | and 4 University of Illinois Governor's Trophy awards, the |
| 20 | | Morton High School Marching Band has built a tradition of |
| 21 | | excellence and pride in its performance; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Morton High School Marching Band has a long |
| 2 | | list of notable achievements from 2012 to 2015; and

| 3 | | WHEREAS, In 2012, the Morton High School Marching Band was |

Super Regional Class AA |
| 5 | | Champion, Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Finalist, |
| 6 | | Bands of America
St. Louis Super Regional Award Winner for Best |
| 7 | | General Effect; Grammy Signature School Semifinalist;
Illinois |
| 8 | | Marching Band Championships Governor's Grand Champion Trophy |
| 9 | | Winner, and the State of
Illinois Class AA Champion; the team |
| 10 | | also performed during halftime at the 2012 St. Louis Rams - |
| 11 | | Green Bay
Packers game; and

| 12 | | WHEREAS, In 2013 and 2014, the Morton High School Marching |
| 13 | | Band was the Illinois Marching
Band Championships Governor's |
| 14 | | Grand Champion Trophy winner, and the State of Illinois Class |
| 15 | | AA
Champion; the team was also featured in the 2014 Smithsonian |
| 16 | | Institute traveling exhibit of Hometown
Teams; and

| 17 | | WHEREAS, In 2015, the Morton High School Marching Band |
| 18 | | received 3rd Place in Class AA of the
Bands of America Atlanta |
| 19 | | Super Regional; and won an 11th consecutive State of Illinois |
| 20 | | Class AA
Championship; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, The Morton High School Marching Band has won 12 |

| 1 | | Grand Championships and over
80 awards since 2012; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Morton Band Parents volunteer selflessly each |
| 3 | | season, and are an integral part of
the band's success; |
| 4 | | therefore, be it
|
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 6 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 7 | | honor and congratulate the Morton High School Marching Band, |
| 8 | | its
talented performers, its Director Jeff Neavor, his |
| 9 | | assistants, and their families on their accomplishments
and |
| 10 | | wish them continued success in the future; and be it further
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 12 | | presented to the Morton High School
Marching Band as a symbol |
| 13 | | of our great respect and esteem.
