2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Illinois Farm Bureau | ||||||
4 | for its commitment to proudly serving farmers in the State of | ||||||
5 | Illinois for 100 years; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, In 1916, the Illinois Agricultural Association, | ||||||
7 | commonly known as the Illinois Farm Bureau, formed when a group | ||||||
8 | of farmers began meeting at the University of Illinois to | ||||||
9 | discuss important issues facing Illinois' farming communities | ||||||
10 | and families; these initial meetings brought needed | ||||||
11 | conversation on the importance of a quality education, | ||||||
12 | resourceful avenues for information collecting and | ||||||
13 | distribution, and more effective and innovative farming | ||||||
14 | practices for Illinois' fertile soils; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Farm Bureau is a membership-driven, | ||||||
16 | non-profit corporation that represents 2 out of every 3 | ||||||
17 | Illinois farmers, while providing excellent agricultural | ||||||
18 | resources, education, and information to all rural and urban | ||||||
19 | Illinois residents; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Throughout its long history, the Illinois Farm | ||||||
21 | Bureau has developed and initiated many farm programs, | ||||||
22 | companies, and businesses in order to improve Illinois' |

1 | business climate and to ensure that agriculture stays at the | ||||||
2 | forefront as one of Illinois' most valuable economic engines; | ||||||
3 | and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Farm Bureau continues to give back to | ||||||
5 | the people and communities of Illinois by donating more than | ||||||
6 | $500,000, 10 million pounds of food, and 4,000 volunteer hours | ||||||
7 | to local food banks, while also awarding more than $80,000 in | ||||||
8 | scholarships to college students; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Today, the Illinois Farm Bureau is a leader for | ||||||
10 | agricultural policy on the local, State, and national levels by | ||||||
11 | focusing on its core mission: to improve the economic | ||||||
12 | well-being of agriculture and enrich the quality of farm family | ||||||
13 | life; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Farm Bureau achieves its mission by | ||||||
15 | educating farmers, supporting common sense legislation, and | ||||||
16 | telling the farmer's story to the public; therefore, be it
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
19 | congratulate the members and staff of the Illinois Farm Bureau | ||||||
20 | on the occasion of the organization's 100th anniversary; and be | ||||||
21 | it further

1 | RESOLVED, That we recognize and appreciate the Illinois | ||||||
2 | Farm Bureau's leadership and guidance on matters important to | ||||||
3 | Illinois' agricultural community; and be it further | ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | delivered to the Illinois Farm Bureau and to all County Farm | ||||||
6 | Bureaus.
