2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Eira Corral Sepulveda of | ||||||
4 | Hanover Park on being named Citizen of the Year; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Eira Corral Sepulveda has been a resident of | ||||||
6 | Hanover Park since 1990; she was elected Village Clerk in 2009 | ||||||
7 | at the age of 23 - the youngest elected official in the State | ||||||
8 | of Illinois; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Eira Corral Sepulveda has been active in engaging | ||||||
10 | the community of Hanover Park through her involvement in local | ||||||
11 | parishes and
community organizations; she was appointed to the | ||||||
12 | Cultural Inclusion and Diversity
Committee for the Village of | ||||||
13 | Hanover Park; she has worked with Centro de Informacion of | ||||||
14 | Hanover Park in mentoring students from Ontarioville | ||||||
15 | Elementary School and has been a committed supporter of the | ||||||
16 | annual mental
health fair; she organizes leaders in Hanover | ||||||
17 | Park to coordinate community outreach events that include | ||||||
18 | immigration workshops,
consumer protection seminars with the | ||||||
19 | Office of Attorney General Lisa Madigan, property tax relief | ||||||
20 | assistance, and
Surviving this Economic Crisis Symposium; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Eira Corral Sepulveda's professional experience | ||||||
22 | has been with the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute |

| |||||||
1 | (USHLI), a national, non-profit
and non-partisan organization; | ||||||
2 | she manages several of the USHLI Programs to develop Latino | ||||||
3 | civic participation and
leadership development for high school | ||||||
4 | and college students, community leaders, and Latino | ||||||
5 | professionals; she
engaged and trained young leaders in | ||||||
6 | strategizing a voter registration campaign and Get Out the Vote | ||||||
7 | campaign that led to the civic participation for the 2008 | ||||||
8 | election of over 62,000 eligible voters in more than 11 states; | ||||||
9 | and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Eira Corral Sepulveda earned
her Bachelor of Arts | ||||||
11 | from DePaul University with a double major in Political Science | ||||||
12 | and Latino and Latin American
Studies; she has a double minor | ||||||
13 | in Community Service Studies and Commercial Spanish; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Eira Corral Sepulveda will receive her award from | ||||||
15 | Hanover Park Village President Rodney S. Craig; therefore, be | ||||||
16 | it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
19 | congratulate Eira Corral Sepulveda of Hanover Park on being | ||||||
20 | named Citizen of the Year and we thank her for her commitment | ||||||
21 | to her community; and be it further
