| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to honor the life and service of United |
| 4 | | States Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CWO) Kevin M. Weiss of |
| 5 | | McHenry, who recently passed away during a training mission; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss, affectionately called Mose by |
| 8 | | those close to him, was raised in McHenry and took to helping |
| 9 | | others at a young age; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, While a teenager working at a concession stand, |
| 11 | | CWO Kevin Weiss witnessed a fishing boat capsize in waters that |
| 12 | | were made dangerously fast by spring rains; not worried for his |
| 13 | | own safety, he got in his own boat and rescued the 4 fisherman; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss' dedication to serving others led |
| 16 | | him to enlist in the United States Army in 2003, where he |
| 17 | | attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before being selected to |
| 18 | | attend the Warrant Officer Candidate School in 2011; he went on |
| 19 | | to become an AH-64D Apache pilot with the 101st Airborne |
| 20 | | Division; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss was deployed in Support of |
|

| 1 | | Operation Enduring Freedom and received numerous medals and |
| 2 | | commendations during his military service, including the Air |
| 3 | | Medal, 3 Army Commendation Medals, the Joint Service |
| 4 | | Achievement Medal, 2 Army Achievement Medals, the Combat Action |
| 5 | | Badge, the Army Aviator Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the |
| 6 | | Parachutist Badge, the Ranger Tab, and numerous other campaign |
| 7 | | and service awards; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss is survived by his loving wife, |
| 9 | | Beth, and their 2 young children, Lucas and Susan; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, CWO Kevin Weiss will be remembered by his many |
| 11 | | friends and family members as a kind and dedicated soul whose |
| 12 | | love for helping others and serving his nation will be truly |
| 13 | | missed; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 16 | | honor the life and service of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kevin M. |
| 17 | | Weiss, whose dedication to his community, his nation, and to |
| 18 | | public service will never be forgotten; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to CWO Kevin Weiss' family as a symbol of our esteem |
| 21 | | and respect.
