2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Terrence P. Fitzmaurice | ||||||
4 | on the occasion of his retirement as Business | ||||||
5 | Manager/Secretary-Treasurer of Painters' District Council #14 | ||||||
6 | Local Union 194; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Terrence Fitzmaurice was initiated into Painters' | ||||||
8 | District Council #14 Local Union 194 on November 5, 1978; he | ||||||
9 | began his apprenticeship at Ruffalo Painting while attending | ||||||
10 | Washburne Trade School, where he graduated in 1981; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Terrence Fitzmaurice began working with the City | ||||||
12 | of Chicago at O'Hare International Airport in 1982; as a | ||||||
13 | painter with the City, he advanced to the position of Foreman | ||||||
14 | for the Painters at O'Hare; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Terrence Fitzmaurice has been active in his Local | ||||||
16 | since becoming a member; throughout the years, he has served as | ||||||
17 | a Conductor, Trustee, Vice President, and President of Local | ||||||
18 | Union 194; because of his dedication with the City and his | ||||||
19 | Local, he became a Business Representative for Painters' | ||||||
20 | District Council #14 on September 29, 1989; while holding this | ||||||
21 | position, he helped many members with numerous issues, such as | ||||||
22 | finding work, problems with contractors, collecting wages or |

1 | benefits due to them, and negotiating contracts; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, On January 1, 2005, Terrence Fitzmaurice became | ||||||
3 | the Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer of Painters' District | ||||||
4 | Council #14; since taking this position, he has decreased the | ||||||
5 | retirement age for painters and tapers, started a newsletter | ||||||
6 | for the members, negotiated new collective bargaining | ||||||
7 | agreements to help put members back to work, and started the | ||||||
8 | Safety Training Award Recognition program; he also took the | ||||||
9 | Local in a new direction by having all Organizers, Business | ||||||
10 | Representatives, and the Local's Apprenticeship School become | ||||||
11 | more involved in their community through projects such as | ||||||
12 | Rebuilding Together, volunteer work at Misericordia, police | ||||||
13 | stations and fire departments, and many other community | ||||||
14 | projects; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Terrence Fitzmaurice serves as a Trustee for the | ||||||
16 | Chicago Building Trades; he is also a member of the Chicago | ||||||
17 | Federation of Labor's Executive Board and a Trustee of the | ||||||
18 | Chicago Painters and Decorators Welfare and Pension Fund; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Terrence Fitzmaurice was the chief architect of | ||||||
20 | Illinois Senate Bill 1281, which created corrosion prevention | ||||||
21 | standards throughout the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
22 | WHEREAS, Terrence Fitzmaurice serves as a model of hard |

1 | work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
2 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
4 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
5 | congratulate Terrence P. Fitzmaurice on the occasion of his | ||||||
6 | retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the | ||||||
7 | future; and be it further

8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to Terrence Fitzmaurice as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
10 | respect.
