2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn | ||||||
4 | Jackson of Chicago, who passed away on September 9, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was born in Chicago on October 6, | ||||||
6 | 1935 to Warezeller and Cleopus Ridgner; she was educated in | ||||||
7 | Chicago, attending Doolittle Elementary and Wendell Phillips | ||||||
8 | High School; she accepted Christ at the age of 12 at Friendly | ||||||
9 | Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late | ||||||
10 | Bishop I. Favors, where she was a member until she married; she | ||||||
11 | was united in holy matrimony in 1956 to Thomas Jackson, Jr.; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was very humble and enjoyed her | ||||||
14 | duties as First Lady, which included providing meals for | ||||||
15 | special events, organizing teas as fundraisers, and clothing | ||||||
16 | give-a-ways; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was a dedicated housewife; she was | ||||||
18 | employed by Spiegel and retired from Carson Pirie Scott; she | ||||||
19 | was active in many organizations, including Boosters for | ||||||
20 | Christ, the Housewife's Club of the YWCA, and the local parent | ||||||
21 | and teacher's organization; her charitable work included | ||||||
22 | giving out food for the holidays and being of service to all in |

1 | need; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was a licensed missionary; she did | ||||||
3 | everything within her power to make sure that each of her | ||||||
4 | children and grandchildren knew how to have a personal | ||||||
5 | relationship with the Lord; she found many ways to create | ||||||
6 | lasting memories for others throughout her life; she was always | ||||||
7 | encouraging others to reach their full potential and she never | ||||||
8 | forgot a birthday; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was a people person; she had a | ||||||
10 | kind and loving spirit and greeted everyone she met as though | ||||||
11 | they were lifelong friends; she took great joy and delight in | ||||||
12 | spending time with her grandchildren; her spiritual gift of | ||||||
13 | hospitality and generosity was known around the nation; her | ||||||
14 | home was open to family, friends, and strangers; many mission | ||||||
15 | workers, visiting ministers, church members, and family have | ||||||
16 | been blessed with her warm smile, open heart, and food; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
18 | parents; her stepfather, William McNabb; her 2 sisters, Juanita | ||||||
19 | (Ernest) and Maggie Anderson; and her 2 brothers, Leon Ridgner | ||||||
20 | (Virgina) and Cleophes Ridgner, Jr.; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson is survived by her husband, Thomas | ||||||
22 | Jackson, Jr.; her sister, Cleola Mae Bates; her 4 children, |

1 | Toby, Thomas III (Marie), Mark, and Judie; her 12 | ||||||
2 | grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her special niece, | ||||||
3 | Debra Ridgner; and her nieces, nephews, other relatives, | ||||||
4 | friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
6 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
7 | mourn the passing of Marilyn Jackson, and extend our sincere | ||||||
8 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
9 | her; and be it further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Marilyn Jackson as an expression of | ||||||
12 | our deepest sympathy.
