HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn
4Jackson of Chicago, who passed away on September 9, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was born in Chicago on October 6,
61935 to Warezeller and Cleopus Ridgner; she was educated in
7Chicago, attending Doolittle Elementary and Wendell Phillips
8High School; she accepted Christ at the age of 12 at Friendly
9Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late
10Bishop I. Favors, where she was a member until she married; she
11was united in holy matrimony in 1956 to Thomas Jackson, Jr.;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was very humble and enjoyed her
14duties as First Lady, which included providing meals for
15special events, organizing teas as fundraisers, and clothing
16give-a-ways; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was a dedicated housewife; she was
18employed by Spiegel and retired from Carson Pirie Scott; she
19was active in many organizations, including Boosters for
20Christ, the Housewife's Club of the YWCA, and the local parent
21and teacher's organization; her charitable work included
22giving out food for the holidays and being of service to all in

1need; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was a licensed missionary; she did
3everything within her power to make sure that each of her
4children and grandchildren knew how to have a personal
5relationship with the Lord; she found many ways to create
6lasting memories for others throughout her life; she was always
7encouraging others to reach their full potential and she never
8forgot a birthday; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was a people person; she had a
10kind and loving spirit and greeted everyone she met as though
11they were lifelong friends; she took great joy and delight in
12spending time with her grandchildren; her spiritual gift of
13hospitality and generosity was known around the nation; her
14home was open to family, friends, and strangers; many mission
15workers, visiting ministers, church members, and family have
16been blessed with her warm smile, open heart, and food; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was preceded in death by her
18parents; her stepfather, William McNabb; her 2 sisters, Juanita
19(Ernest) and Maggie Anderson; and her 2 brothers, Leon Ridgner
20(Virgina) and Cleophes Ridgner, Jr.; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson is survived by her husband, Thomas
22Jackson, Jr.; her sister, Cleola Mae Bates; her 4 children,

1Toby, Thomas III (Marie), Mark, and Judie; her 12
2grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her special niece,
3Debra Ridgner; and her nieces, nephews, other relatives,
4friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7mourn the passing of Marilyn Jackson, and extend our sincere
8condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
9her; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Marilyn Jackson as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
