HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are
3saddened to learn of the death of Henry icon, Allan L.
4Waldschmidt, who passed away on July 31, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt was born in Peoria on October
625, 1946 to Julius H. and Doris (nee Reising) Waldschmidt; he
7married Vicki A. Moore on June 27, 1970 in Peoria; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt farmed in the Henry area for
9over 45 years and retired from Caterpillar as an electrical
10journeyman after over 30 years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Over his lifetime, Allan Waldschmidt dedicated
12himself to his community, serving as a volunteer fireman for 51
13years with the Henry Fire Protection District, beginning at age
14of 17; he was a Trustee for the Henry Fire Protection district
15for 15 years; he also served as a precinct committeeman with
16the Republican Party and volunteered at the Family Resources
17Center, the Spring Festival of Life Auction, and The Catholic
18Diocese of Peoria Men's Walk; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt was only the third member in the
20history of the Henry Fire Protection District to serve for 50
21years or more; he acted as an exemplary figure to the younger

1generations of firefighters in the Henry Fire Protection
2District; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt's service to the Henry Fire
4Protection District as a Trustee had a tremendous long-term
5impact in building the department to its current level; he went
6above and beyond by donating materials and volunteer labor to
7literally build the department from the floor up; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt, along with his wife Vicki, were
9longtime members of the diocesan Respect Life Board and
10volunteered countless hours during the planning and
11construction of the Family Resource Center in Peoria; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt was cherished in the Henry and
13Peoria communities for his dedication to public service, his
14business and electrical expertise, his relentless generosity,
15and his steadfast commitment to improving the lives of his
16fellow Illinoisans; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt was preceded in death by his
18brother-in-law, Howard Shipman; his parents; and one unborn
19child Mary/Joseph Waldschmidt; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Allan Waldschmidt is survived by his wife, Vicki;
21his sons, Michael (Nicci) and Thomas (Toni); his daughter,

1Patricia; his brothers, Marvin (Anita) Waldschmidt, Russell
2(Pat) Waldschmidt, Ernest (Pam) Waldschmidt, and Dean (Kathy)
3Waldschmidt; his sisters, Doreen Shipman and Julie (Bob) Read;
4and his grandchildren, Haley Waldschmidt, Collin Waldschmidt,
5Aaron Waldschmidt, and Ellianna Waldschmidt; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8mourn the passing of Allan L. Waldschmidt and extend our
9sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
10and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Allan L. Waldschmidt as an
13expression of our deepest sympathy.
