2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Rev. Dr. Reginald J. |
4 | | Saffo, Ph.D. of Bellwood on the occasion of his 20th |
5 | | anniversary as pastor of Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood; |
6 | | and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo is a native of Ohio; he |
8 | | later moved to the western suburbs of Chicago; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo served his country with |
10 | | distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo earned an Associate's |
12 | | Degree in Arts with Honors and a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree |
13 | | from Aspen Christian College; he later earned a Baccalaureate |
14 | | of Arts Degree from Governors State University and a Master of |
15 | | Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Ministry from Aspen |
16 | | Christian Seminary; he also has completed specialized |
17 | | certification studies with the Evangelical Teacher Training |
18 | | Association, the Billy Graham School of Evangelism, and the |
19 | | Stephen Oxford Center for Biblical Preaching; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo worked in transportation |
21 | | management with the BNSF Railway Company for several years; for |
|

1 | | the past 20 years, he has served as Pastor of the United Faith |
2 | | Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood, where he has tended to |
3 | | the needs of his congregation with integrity and dignity; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo has served as a faithful |
5 | | advocate for God's people, the communities where God's people |
6 | | live, and the quality of living that they gain; he has worked |
7 | | diligently for community betterment through his leadership, |
8 | | affiliation, and partnership with the Cook County President |
9 | | Toni Preckwinkle Transition Team, the Cook County Land Bank |
10 | | Board of Directors, the Bellwood Library Board, and the |
11 | | Executive Director Proviso Township Minister's Alliance |
12 | | Network; he has served as Executive Director of the Proviso |
13 | | Action Committee and Interfaith Illinois; he is a member of the |
14 | | Chicago Bar Association (Interfaith Committee) and the Chicago |
15 | | Neighborhood Initiative Advisory Board (Park National Bank); |
16 | | he is the founder of the Proviso Township Business Association, |
17 | | the founder and Chancellor of the United Faith Christian |
18 | | Institute and Bible College, and the Regional Director of Aspen |
19 | | Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo was a recipient of the |
21 | | NAACP Medal of Freedom Award; he is also the publisher of |
22 | | "Christian Formation Principles", a text guide in the |
23 | | structured study of the Bible; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo serves as a model of hard |
2 | | work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
3 | | Illinois; therefore, be it
|
4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
5 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
6 | | congratulate Rev. Dr. Reginald J. Saffo, Ph.D. of Bellwood on |
7 | | the occasion of his 20th anniversary as pastor of Missionary |
8 | | Baptist Church and wish him continued success and happiness in |
9 | | the future; and be it further

10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo as a symbol of our esteem |
12 | | and respect.
