| 2 | | WHEREAS, On May 2, 2015, State Representative Charlie Meier |
| 3 | | (R-Okawville) was inducted into the
Illinois Jaycee Hall of |
| 4 | | Fame; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Meier became the 30th member to join the hall |
| 6 | | of fame on the 100th anniversary of the
Jaycees; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Meier joined the Addieville Jaycees in 1979; |
| 8 | | and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Meier served as local President in 1982; |
| 10 | | District Director in 1983 and 1987, recognized both times as |
| 11 | | the Outstanding District Director; and Region Director in 1982; |
| 12 | | he served on the State
Jaycees board twice; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, In 1988, Rep. Meier was recognized as one of the |
| 14 | | Ten Outstanding Young People in
Illinois; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, In 1991, Rep. Meier was inducted into the Illinois |
| 16 | | Jaycees Recruiter Hall of Fame; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, In 2009, Rep. Meier was awarded a Senatorship and |
| 18 | | served on the Jaycee Senate Board; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Meier was inducted to the Jaycee Hall of Fame |
| 2 | | for his decades of volunteerism and
public service; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Meier's volunteerism began in high school; he |
| 4 | | was instrumental in restarting
the local AG and Future Farmers |
| 5 | | of America program at Okawville High School, from which he |
| 6 | | graduated in 1977; he is a
life member of St. Peters U.C.C. and |
| 7 | | has served on numerous church committees as well as teaching
|
| 8 | | Sunday School; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Meier began his public service on the |
| 10 | | Washington County Board, serving on
the Legislative, Sherriff, |
| 11 | | Highway, and Assessment and Animal Control committees; he |
| 12 | | served on the Southwestern Illinois RC&D, and as Vice-Chairman |
| 13 | | of the B.C.M.W., which serves Bond, Clinton, Marion, and |
| 14 | | Washington Counties; in addition, he never gave up fighting to |
| 15 | | Save
Murray Center in Centralia, and as it stands now, Murray |
| 16 | | Center will remain open; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Meier became the sixth legislator to be |
| 18 | | inducted into the Illinois
Jaycee Hall of Fame; his |
| 19 | | predecessors include State Rep. Bill Black, State Rep. John |
| 20 | | Doody, State
Senator Frank Watson, State Senator John Davidson, |
| 21 | | and U.S. Senator Roland Burris; therefore, be it
|
