2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate LeAnn Miller on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of her retirement on June 1, 2015 after 32 years of | ||||||
5 | dedicated service as an Illinois educator; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller was born on November 21, 1960 in | ||||||
7 | Herrin; her parents are Gerald Lee and Carol Ann Crabb; she is | ||||||
8 | the loving and dedicated wife of the "Colonel", Douglas E. | ||||||
9 | Miller, the son of the late Herbert and Joyce Miller; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller graduated from Harrisburg High | ||||||
11 | School in 1978; she subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science | ||||||
12 | in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University at | ||||||
13 | Carbondale in May of 1982 and her Masters of Science with an | ||||||
14 | Administrative Degree from Southern Illinois University | ||||||
15 | Carbondale in May of 1989; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller worked for the Illinois Department of | ||||||
17 | Corrections School District 428 from 1983 to 2003, rising | ||||||
18 | through the ranks from Teacher to Assistant Principal to | ||||||
19 | Principal to Associate Superintendent; she then rose to the | ||||||
20 | District's highest position, State Superintendent; as State | ||||||
21 | Superintendent, she was an aggressive advocate for education | ||||||
22 | for all inmates in the Illinois Department of Corrections to |

1 | receive access to education courses, whether it be basic skills | ||||||
2 | or high school and college level courses; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller was hired at Frankfort Community Unit | ||||||
4 | School District 168 in 2004 to serve as the Principal at | ||||||
5 | Denning Elementary School; in August of 2013, she moved to | ||||||
6 | Frankfort Intermediate School's 3-6 building; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller served as the Title I Director and | ||||||
8 | Homeless Coordinator for Frankfort Community Unit School | ||||||
9 | District 168; she has also served on many local committees for | ||||||
10 | the district; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller was a true leader and mentor to the | ||||||
12 | staff that worked under her supervision and the students and | ||||||
13 | parents that she interacted with on a daily basis; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller is a true example of the modern | ||||||
15 | woman, working hard with a professional career while balancing | ||||||
16 | the love and devotion of being a mother and a grandmother; she | ||||||
17 | is the mother of Julie Ann Crabb Martin (Davy), Laura Elizabeth | ||||||
18 | Miller (fiance Eric Westbrook), and her special "adopted" | ||||||
19 | daughter, Liz Brown-Reeves and the grandmother of Jackson and | ||||||
20 | Samuel Martin; she also enjoys a very close relationship with | ||||||
21 | her siblings, Mary (Mike) Reed, Martha (Rocky) James and John | ||||||
22 | (Amanda) Crabb; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Following her retirement from public service to | ||||||
2 | the State of Illinois, LeAnn Miller plans to travel, spend more | ||||||
3 | time with her family and friends, read, shop, and maintain her | ||||||
4 | keen interest in educational issues; she will hopefully impart | ||||||
5 | her extensive wisdom to future generations; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, LeAnn Miller's legacy of hard work, integrity, and | ||||||
7 | dedication to both the educational system, parents, and | ||||||
8 | children of the State of Illinois will be fondly remembered by | ||||||
9 | the members of this august body; therefore, be it
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
11 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
12 | congratulate LeAnn Miller on the occasion of her retirement, | ||||||
13 | thank her for her many years of dedicated service to the | ||||||
14 | Illinois educational system and the people of the State of | ||||||
15 | Illinois, and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; | ||||||
16 | and be it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to LeAnn Miller as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
19 | respect.
