HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gary T. Robinson on the occasion of his retirement after 38 years of distinguished service with the State of Illinois, including almost 3 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation, 35 years with the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the last 29 years as the Deputy Director in the Office of Finance and Administration; and

WHEREAS, Gary Robinson has served under 9 Directors of Public Health and has deftly handled numerous positions and assignments over the years, most of them simultaneously; his positions include Chief of Accounting Services, Agency Procurement Officer, Internal and External Audit Liaison, Fiscal Officer, Budget Officer, Analyst, and overseeing physical services, Regional Health Officers, and the Division of Local Health Administrators; and

WHEREAS, Gary Robinson has been instrumental in drafting and implementing the annual budget for the Department of Public Health; he has testified before hundreds of legislative committees; he has been diligent in achieving the Department's goal and vision of guaranteeing people live healthier lives by ensuring the safety of the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe; he has also maintained the continuity of the Department for more than 3 decades with his historical knowledge and understanding of the internal working of State government; and

WHEREAS, Gary Robinson has had many professional accomplishments during his career in public health; he has been an annual meeting, finance, audit, and personnel committee member, Treasurer, and President of the Illinois Public Health Association; he is a National Public Health Leadership Institute Scholar, Mentor, and Fellow; he is also a member of the Local Health Liaison Committee and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officers Management Committee; and

WHEREAS, Gary Robinson received his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Bradley University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield; he was also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Springfield as part of the Masters in Public Health program; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Gary T. Robinson on the occasion of his retirement after many years of distinguished service with the Department of Public Health and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gary T. Robinson as an expression of our esteem and respect.
