HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Fannie
4Mae Brisco-Melvin Rayford; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fannie Rayford was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi
6on November 13, 1942 to Charlie and Laura Brisco; she graduated
7from Rose A. Temple High School; she relocated to Aurora, where
8she met and was united in marriage to Thomas Melvin, Sr.; she
9later met George Rayford in 1970 and they were united in
10marriage 1982; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Fannie Rayford retired from Furnas Electric in
122005; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Fannie Rayford was a member of Progressive Baptist
14Church, where she was very active in the choir and various
15committees; in 1998, she joined New Community Baptist Church
16and became its First Lady under the leadership of her husband,
17Servant George Rayford; she was ordained as an Evangelist in
18June of 2007; she enjoyed life to the fullest; she loved to
19cook and share a good laugh and was an avid card player; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Fannie Rayford is survived by her husband of over
2144 years, Servant George Rayford; her daughter, Debra (Ronnie);

1her sons, Earl Melvin, Deion (Beverly) Melvin, Thomas (Anita)
2Melvin, Jr., Roderick Rayford, Tonya Rayford Jones, Ercil
3Rayford, and Donald Rayford; her siblings, Berdia (Leon) Casey,
4Joe (Linda) Brisco, Gertrude (Ernest) Thomas, Albert
5(Beatrice) Brisco, and Roger Brisco; her in-laws, James
6(Barbara) Rayford, Larry C. Rayford, Johnny (Daisy) Rayford,
7Aaron (Jeanette) Rayford, Pastor Van (Diane) Rayford, Pastor
8Eddie Rayford, Dr. Richard (Dr. Edith) Rayford, Dr. Walter
9Rayford, Truly Banks, Geneva Rubin, and Claudette (James)
10Marion; her uncle, Joe Sanderson; her aunts, Luella Wolfe,
11Willie Jean Smith, and Ora Mae Rayford; her 23 grandchildren;
12and her 22 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15mourn the passing of Fannie Mae Brisco-Melvin Rayford, and
16extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
17who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Fannie Rayford as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
