2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the |
4 | | Isaac Hull Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution |
5 | | on the occasion of the Chapter's 100th anniversary; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, The Daughters of the American Revolution is a |
7 | | national patriotic organization whose members are direct |
8 | | descendants of those patriots who fought in the American |
9 | | Revolution, who, with unfailing loyalty, served as sailors, |
10 | | soldiers, and civil officers or rendered material aid to the |
11 | | cause of American independence during the Revolutionary War; |
12 | | and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, The Daughters of the American Revolution is the |
14 | | only women's organization that reports to Congress each year; |
15 | | and |
16 | | WHEREAS, The Isaac Hull Chapter of the Daughters of the |
17 | | American Revolution was organized on July 17, 1915 by Lulu H. |
18 | | Hull, a resident of Marion County; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Isaac Hull, Jr., for whom this chapter was named, |
20 | | was the great-great-grandson of Reverend Joseph, a minister of |
21 | | the established Church of England who brought a colony from his |
|

1 | | native land in 1653 and settled in Massachusetts, where he |
2 | | founded the town of Hull; his father, Isaac Hull, Sr. was a 1st |
3 | | Lieutenant Quartermaster in New Jersey with the Second Regiment |
4 | | Sussex County Militia; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, The majority of the charter members were |
6 | | descendants of Isaac Hull, Jr.; it was decided to use his name |
7 | | for the chapter's designation; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, The first Isaac Hull Chapter officers were Lulu |
9 | | Hammond Hull, Regent; Lucy Hull Parks, Vice Regent; Martha |
10 | | Rogers Bennett, Chaplain; Effie B. Brinkerhoff, Secretary; |
11 | | Lovell Hull Bell, Treasurer; Mary Ruth Williams, Registrar; and |
12 | | Nellie Larimer Moore, Historian; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, The Constitution and By-Laws for the Isaac Hull |
14 | | Chapter were adopted on February 12, 1916; the Chapter's |
15 | | original minutes from 1915-1921 reside with the Marion County |
16 | | Genealogical and Historical Society offices in the |
17 | | Bryan-Bennett Library in Salem; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, As of the date of the 100th anniversary, the |
19 | | officers of the Isaac Hull Chapter are: Carolyn Baker |
20 | | Stubblefield, Regent; Julie Woods Barnes, Vice-Regent; Sarah |
21 | | Jane McClelland Gaston, Chaplain; Lael Nesmith Snyder, |
22 | | Secretary; Susan Hayes Burgess, Treasurer; Sharen Lawson |

1 | | Harvey, Assistant Treasurer; Carol Simcox Wood, Registrar; and |
2 | | Ada Joyce Quick White, Historian; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, The Isaac Hull Chapter sponsors Good Citizenship |
4 | | Awards at schools in Marion County, American History Essay |
5 | | contests, and school and community flag/veteran programs; the |
6 | | Chapter also promotes support for veterans, provides programs |
7 | | to veterans at the Marion Veterans Hospital and residential |
8 | | care facilities, prompts celebrations of patriotic holidays, |
9 | | presents the flag of the United States of America to new |
10 | | citizens at naturalization ceremonies, and sponsors the |
11 | | Children of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American |
12 | | Revolution Schools, and many national special committees; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, At all chapter meetings, the Isaac Hull Chapter |
14 | | begins each meeting with a prayer, a recitation of the Pledge |
15 | | of Allegiance, the American's Creed, and the Preamble to the |
16 | | Constitution of the United States of America, and a performance |
17 | | of The Star Spangled Banner; as a Daughter of the American |
18 | | Revolution, each daughter makes an oath and accepts the duty to |
19 | | love our country, support the Constitution, obey its laws, |
20 | | respect its flag, and defend it against all enemies; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, The Isaac Hull Chapter of the Daughters of the |
22 | | American Revolution will mark its 100th anniversary on July 17, |
23 | | 2015 with a reception in Marion County; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
2 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
3 | | congratulate the members of the Isaac Hull Chapter of the |
4 | | Daughters of the American Revolution on the occasion of its |
5 | | 100th anniversary and wish the organization and its members |
6 | | continued success in the future; and be it further
|
7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
8 | | presented to the Isaac Hull Chapter of the Daughters of the |
9 | | American Revolution as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
