|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Joliet Central High |
4 | | School Principal John Randich on the occasion of his retirement |
5 | | after 39 years of service in the education field; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, John Randich has over 39 years of educational |
7 | | experience, with 34 of those years being dedicated to Joliet |
8 | | Township High School District (JTHS) 204; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, John Randich is in his final year as principal at |
10 | | JTHS and will be leaving a legacy of success that will continue |
11 | | to impact generations of students, parents, staff, and the |
12 | | community; he has been involved in 3 of the district's |
13 | | strategic plans (5-year cycles), the passage of a
referendum to |
14 | | build field houses, construction of a field house and new |
15 | | student center, and the
implementation of the academy |
16 | | structure; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, John Randich led an innovative educational reform |
18 | | that resulted in JTHS becoming the first public
school district |
19 | | in Illinois to add community service as a graduation |
20 | | requirement; he was instrumental in making JTHS a Chicago |
21 | | Tribune Top Workplace for the last 3 consecutive years; he |
22 | | worked
with JTHS students and staff as JTHS became one of the |

1 | | first high schools in the nation to collaborate in
a book study |
2 | | with author Sean Covey regarding character education for teens, |
3 | | and, in 1998, "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens" was |
4 | | released, celebrated with a book signing at Barnes and Nobles; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, John Randich has facilitated numerous |
7 | | presentations and events held at sender schools and community |
8 | | organizations such as the NAACP, neighborhood associations, |
9 | | and the Joliet Region Interfaith Education Council; he is a |
10 | | member of the Joliet City Center Partnership and actively |
11 | | contributes to the JTHS Foundation as the Co-Chair of the Major |
12 | | Gifts Committee; his relationship with the City Center resulted |
13 | | in the inclusion of Joliet Central as a destination point in |
14 | | the downtown city walking tour, which tells the story of |
15 | | historic destinations in Joliet; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, The school culture that John Randich has created |
17 | | has led to several awards, including the Illinois State Board |
18 | | of Education (ISBE)
Academic Improvement Award for Joliet |
19 | | Central's significant improvement in State test scores, and the
|
20 | | district's AP Achievement Award; in 2012, he was
awarded |
21 | | "Steelman of the Year" by the athletic boosters, and, in 2011, |
22 | | the University of St. Francis named
him as one of the 90 most |
23 | | influential graduates; in 2014, he received the ISBE Award of |
24 | | Excellence for
School Administration; and

1 | | WHEREAS, John Randich is the first Joliet Central High |
2 | | School graduate to become the school's principal and his 2 sons |
3 | | are fourth generation JTHS alumni; he is a first generation |
4 | | college graduate
and a life-long resident of Joliet; therefore, |
5 | | be it
|
6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
7 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
8 | | congratulate Joliet Central High School Principal John Randich |
9 | | on his retirement after 39 years of service in the education |
10 | | field; and be it further

11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
12 | | presented to John Randich as an expression of our esteem and |
13 | | respect.
